Author's Note: This is my first fanfic, so please be nice.

It's pretty much a story where Sora meets Kairi, a suspicious girl who claims to be a runaway who wants to find freedom in the North. It was inevitable that Fate had wanted them together… but sometimes, it just doesn't go as planned.

This story has nothing to do with the Kingdom Hearts story. Zilch.

Edit: I finally had the time to reread this prologue, and decided to change it, since it bothered me a lot.

Disclaimer: If I owned Kingdom Hearts, I don't think I could've thought such a wicked plot.

Prologue

Sora didn't know what to do. The auburn haired girl sat by the lonely shore, lost in her thoughts as she stared into the sky, humming the familiar tune. A tear trickled down her face, but she wiped it away with her hand. Then he heard his own voice whispering in the winds.

"Call of the Flute. That's the song's name."

"Call of the Flute?"

"People say when a person plays it on the flute while wishing with all their might to see the person they love, they come back from the dead to answer your call."

"Myths don't exist."

His own voice laughed through the air. "Why don't you try it for yourself sometime?" The wind gave one last blew before calming. Although the girl had her back turned to him, he could feel Kairi's lips pulling somehow, and as if it were a cue, he smiled too. At the sight of berry red hair… She was beautiful enough that her sky blue eyes had shown into view, along with that nice smile she gave him at times…

He had been thinking so deeply about her statue that the highest pitch in the music awoken him from his pondering. He blinked. Kairi had been blowing softly into the wind instrument, stopping at moments so much that it had been almost impossible to decipher the melody. But to Sora, he knew clearly what she had been trying. It was the song, the one that Sora had told her before…

His heart leaped. Kairi was calling for him. Instincts taking over his body, he walked over to her, placing his hand over her shoulder, receiving a shock that was neither painful nor wonderful. She also jolted a little in surprise.

That was right… He was dead, but she was still alive… The dead weren't allowed to contact people like this. But Sora still answered to Kairi, dead or not. The smell of strawberries… He unconsciously placed his arms around her shoulders, engulfing him face in her hair. He never liked strawberries, but this smell was different. It was… sweeter than most sour strawberries he'd tasted before.

Kairi must have felt the weight on her. The last note that came out of the flute had been a small squeak. He could feel her shoulders tensing a bit before relaxing as she turned her head around, smiling. Sora felt his heart melting. If she could feel him, then he wasn't dead, was he?

She closed her eyes when she felt her lips brushing tenderly against the other. Before Sora could recall what he had been doing, the two gazed at each other's peachy face, still warm from the close contact.

"I love you." Sora could feel the wind passing through him, whispering the same phrase. His transparent figure started dissolving into nothingness. He waited for an answer, but when none came, miserable stepped in, that was, until.

"I love you too." Those were the last words that passed through his mind, before he was swept away with the breeze. There were happy endings after all.

Author's Endnote: Bah, I hate writing beginnings of stories. Oh yes, Sora kissed Kairi. That should give you a hint where this story will go.

It'll be nice if you review, but please, no flames.
