Stronger Than That

They were out of control.
Completely out of control.
Ever since one of the parents became hysterical and started screaming about his deep, dark secret, the hysteria and bloodlust grew like a plaque.
The Hokage couldn't do anything. He never expected that this could have happened.
That was his downfall.
They dragged the 'demon' by a rope wrapped around his neck, and hovered above him as if he were a wild animal. A wild animal about to get loose and kill them all.
But he wouldn't fight. Oh, no.
Naruto was stronger than that.

They nailed him to a low stake, low enough so they could reach him.
The villagers found a new form of torture now.
The ninjas, all of them, seemed to materialize exploding tags out of mid air.
Even the children, also clutching their teddy bears, held onto their temporary prize.
One by one, each villager planted a tag on the blond genin's body.
And after his whole body was covered in scribbled paper, they activated.
But Naruto wouldn't scream in pain, nor wince even.
He was stronger than that.
~*~
He could easily be mistaken for a bloody mass of meat.
But if you looked closely, you could make out some strands of sunshine yellow hair.
Most of that was blown off though.
You could also see scraps of his orange jacket.
But you couldn't tell easily; the scraps were now stained crimson.
Clear blue eyes were the only thing that shone through the endless red.
They still held their confident shine.
As the last thread that was holding his fragile life gradually snapped, the blue eyes noticed one thing out of the angry mob.
Konohamaru, sobbing his eyes out, watching as the one he looked up to was being stripped of his dreams.
Naruto would've smiled reassuringly to the cute, yet annoying little pest if he could. But he didn't have much of a mouth left.
But Naruto didn't cry. Not a tear.
He was stronger than that.
~*~
The villagers felt the need to do one more thing to the genin.
Just below what was left of his feet, they piled straw, paper, and logs.
Then one of the more talented ninjas, probably a jounin, performed a fire element jutsu.
The jutsu lit the straw, logs, paper, stake, and the rest of Naruto on fire.
Just as the rising flame overcame him completly, he had a couple thoughts.
'Was this what I waited for all my life? Burned at the stake. How original.'
'Thank you, all of those who cared for me...'
'May these villagers be cursed with the guilt of burning a boy alive. Or will they be happy that their demon boy is gone?'
And there was one more thought as the hot flames licked his face.
'Sure I was stronger than that... but was I truly strong?'
The last strand of thread gave way, and the fragile life, already full of holes, shattered against the hard ground.
~Owari~
A/N: Whoa. That's was my brain's fault.
Naruto: Waaah... I thought you liked me!!
I do like you, Naruto... I just want to make everybody feel sorry for you!
Naruto: BY KILLING ME?!
Of course! HeHe!!
