Albus and Rose stare out the train window, waving at their parents until they are completely out of sight.
"Albus?"
"What?"
"I'm scared." Rose says quietly.
"Me too," Albus says as he grabs her hand. "Lets go find a place to sit though."
Rose nods and follows as they look for an empty compartment. They locate one towards the back and make themselves comfortable.
"What house do you want to be put in?" Rose asks her cousin.
"Gryffindor, obviously. It's the best. Really anywhere, though. As long as it's not Slytherin." Albus makes a face as he says it.
"What's so bad about Slytherin?" A boy's voice drawls.
Rose and Albus look up with shock at the person speaking. He has blonde hair combed back in a ridiculous way and his eyes are sharp and attentive, an electric blue. He wears a smirk across his face and leans cooly against the door, waiting for a response. His question obviously got the desired response. After a moment of awkward silence, he takes a seat next to Albus.
"I'm just teasing, I'm not particularly found of the house myself. Personally, I prefer Ravenclaw. Just don't tell my dad, my whole family tree has been in Slytherin and they expect me to carry on that tradition. My name is Scorpius Malfoy, by the way."
Malfoy, the boy her father warned her about, Rose thought. He didn't seem so scary. Albus, however, was giving him a very pointed look.
"Yes, I've heard about your family, Malfoy." Albus remarked.
"Oh, I don't doubt that. But I assure you, Potter, that I am not like them. Honestly though, my father is not so bad anymore. He has been very honest with my mother and I of his past, we know he did some of unspeakable things. Things I will never even think of doing."
After about five minutes of an intense stare-down, Albus finally let down his guard. Within no time at all, the three of them were conversing pleasantly on their long train ride to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
This is just a preview and me figuring out how posting on here works. Much much more and better content to come.
