Tony left with a tired sigh. Stepping in as the elevator dinged and departed. Leaving with only a, 'See ya' tomorrow boss.'
After Gibbs knew his Senior Field Agent was gone, he made his way over to the said agent's desk. Taking a beautifully crafted paper with fine words written on it, from the desk, and holding it his hands.
He had noticed today that DiNozzo was acting weird. And it had something to do with this damned piece of paper.
His finger tips brushed against the edges as he flipped it open. He read the words carefully.
At the bottom of the page, there was something else.
Pain is not always physical. Sometimes it burns deep into the soul.
Leaving it burnt, withered, and left to die.
With a strong power you could only embrace the better things in life.
No sign of fear ever taking your soul.
When the demons of your heart, take their toll.
When the tears you cry, no longer dry.
When the life you live…is all a lie.
But you still wake up, and you still survive.
Because you have a reason, to stay alive.
The pair of ice blue eyes gazed down at the hand written piece of art.
I have a reason. My dad. Or more like my boss…but my dad nonetheless. Maybe one day I'll be someone's reason too.
All Gibbs did was set the paper down and walk away, forgetting about the unfinished paperwork, and left.
Next Morning 0946 hours
The bullpen was eerily silent…kind of.
All had their respectable amount of noise, except for the home of Team Gibbs. In strode into the bullpen a young man, Agent DiNozzo.
With a smile he greeted his boss, and friends, they politely greeted back.
When lunch time came with only cold case files, Ziva and McGee were dismissed but only Tony stayed.
"You need something boss?" He curiously questioned.
"No DiNozzo just wanted to tell ya'…you're my reason son." And with that he walked away, as he was fortunately called into MTAC.
Meanwhile, Tony took the paper from his desk and laughed crossing out the last sentence. He was someone's reason after all.
