Author's notes: Hey there! Just something I wrote in less than twenty minutes while watching AOTC. This is about Luke and it takes place a few years before A New Hope. I thought this might tide you guys, reading my other story, over until I finish with the next chapter. Tell me if you like this. Review! Thanks! :)

~*~*~*~*~*~*

At times as Luke flew his swoop through Beggar's Canyon he could almost see his father. He could picture his father flying through this very canyon. He could see him dodging that boulder and sweeping around this twist just as he was. He wished more than anything that his father was here with him. He wished he knew his father. So much was hidden from him, so much unclear.

Why did his Uncle Owen never tell him anything about his father? All knew was his father was dead and that he had once been a pilot for the Republic in the Clone Wars. Aunt Beru sometimes would tell him little clues and hints of his father, but never anything out right, never when Owen was near by. Luke could only think that his father most have done something hurt or anger Uncle Owen and Beru. Why else would they refuse to tell him more?

If they knew of his father why then did they not seem to know anything of his mother? Who was she? What had happened to her? Where was she? He knew, somehow, that she was dead. He could feel this simple truth in his heart as though someone had spoken it to him. It was a sad, crushing sort of feeling that he felt afterward when realizing this. He would never get to know her or who she had been. It was frustrating and angering for Luke to know that the information all lay in his relatives' minds. To him it was as far out of his reach as the distant stars. Maybe he would never know the truth about his parents.

His brow furrowed in frustration just thinking about all this. Everything he wanted so badly was beyond his reach. He could not fly away from here to join the Imperial Academy, he could not learn the truth to things he wanted to know most, and he could not see a future for himself that involved getting off this dust bowl of a planet. He was stuck here, dreaming for things that seemed impossible to ever happen. He was alone here.

Another brief day dream of his father flying star ships through the distant systems of the galaxy passed through his mind's eye. It was as vivid, as it was brief. It was as if almost for a moment his father were really alive and that he was seeing a part of his father's life. He couldn't explain it. This had happened to him more times then he could count. It was like he could see into the past for brief moments at a time. He also had wired premonitions of the immediate future before something happened. When something happened that he did 'fore see' it was like déjà vu. He could even fix a problem at times before it happened.

He tried to explain it to Uncle Owen once, but Owen had only grown angry upon hearing it. Why? Had his father had this same 'foresight' as he did? Was that where he got it from? Or was he just some freak? Why was Owen so upset that Luke had this 'gift', this talent? Once again he wondered what his father could have possibly done to make Owen dislike his father so much.

He shook his head, strange how life seemed to be treating him.

Someday, he promised himself, someday I will know the truth to everything I want to know so badly. I will get away from this stupid planet and be a pilot like my father. Someday.
