He was busy surveying a peace of worthless earth for a new temporary headquarters for Megatron's latest plans for the domination of earth. The never ending blistering white sands of the Sahara could be seen in all directions. The only thing that wasn't the annoying color of the sand was the pristine azure blue sky overhead. There was a light breeze that shifted the sands ever so lightly that one might not notice the slight change in the sand's ripples.
Hook seemed to be quietly enjoying himself. There were no comrades to bother him, no chest plate shaking voice of Megatron thundering through the walls, no persistent screech of Starscream bitching of one thing or another. The one hundred and twenty point four Fahrenheit degree temperature didn't faze him ether. He almost considered this assignment a small vacation; almost. It felt to Hook that nothing could go wrong for him. Until the wind just stopped hard and flat.
Nothing stirred.
Hook looked up from his surveying scanner and paused. 'Now that's odd.' He thought as he checked the wind speeds of his location. As he processed the information, he realized that there was no wind; coming from anywhere.
Just dead air.
This was, at the very least, a little bit unnerving. Hook looked around in all directions. Everything seemed alright but Hook couldn't get this feeling wrongness that he felt was slowly starting to emanate from all directions. Normally he wouldn't be easily scared; but this. This time it was different.
"Hello!" he yelled, "Is anyone out there???"
There was no response or reply; no sound of any kind at all. 'That should be a good sign. I think?' Hook thought as kept looking at all directions for any sign of noise or wind. When he didn't see or hear anything, Hook continued his surveying of the area. But in the back of his mind, he couldn't shack the feeling that something was horribly wrong.
"PIEEEENNNNNGGGGGGAAAA!!!"
Dropping his scanner and covering his audios, Hook heard a high pitch pinging sound coming, what seemed, from all directions. And which seemed to get more and louder by the second.
"PIEEEENNNNNGGGGGGAAAA!!!"
"AUGH!!!" screamed Hook as fell to his knees, his body thrashing and his face recoiled in pain; "Stop it! Will someone please stop this horrid pinging!"
As the pining sound persisted, Hook subconsciously heard a voice coming from the agonizing sound. It spoke in a language Hood could not recognize, but somehow he understood each and every word of it. The voice was festering, moldy and phlegm filed that oozed and painfully dripped as it spoke to Hook
"Thing. Pathetic thing. Your world is near its end. You will see everything you know crumble and melt into the eternal nuclear waste that is the chaos of Armageddon. The elder gods are coming. They will annihilate everything you hold dear and you will be their plaything and your soul they will forever feasted upon till there is nothing left of you but a pile of festering puss." The voice said into Hook's mind.
"NO!!!" Hook shrieked as the voice and the high pitch pinging faded and the wind started to lightly blow again. Hours later Astrotrain landed seeing Hook lying on the ever shifting sand in a tight little ball. Rocking himself back and forth.
Walking up to Hook and kneeled next to him. "What in the hell happened to you?"
And the only thing Astrotrain heard from Hook was, "The pinging; the pinging!"
