Meaningful Conversations
"So anyway, I was thinking that maybe we should have another pizza, beer, and hockey night. We haven't done that in forever."
"Wow. I had no idea," Daniel blinked.
Jack nodded. "Yeah. I think the last one was when you came back from that Goa'uld summit thing, which is why--"
Daniel's brow furrowed in confusion. "What?"
"What do you mean 'what'?"
"What are you talking about, Jack?"
The colonel frowned. "Pizza, beer, and hockey, of course." He paused. "What are you talking about?"
Daniel dropped his fork back into his mashed potatoes. "I just remembered something from when I was--" He pointed upward.
"Glowy?" Jack finished.
"Yeah. I had no idea."
Jack felt like he was attempting to pull teeth from a recalcitrant alligator. "No idea of what?"
"That you talk to your houseplants."
"I don't have houseplants."
"Fine. You talked to my houseplants... not to mention the fish."
"You got the wrong person, Daniel," Jack hedged. "Carter talks to plants, not me."
Daniel grinned. "I was there, Jack."
The colonel gave him an assessing look, then shrugged, standing up from the mess hall table. "Fine, but remember that you're the one who admitted to having 'meaningful conversations with dogs'."
