A Redwall Rowing Shanty

Start pulling those oars,
And have you heard,
Of Rose of Noonvale,
Who could outsing any bird?
Oh my word, what a tale,
Keep rowing those oars,
Now let's set sail.

Martin the Warrior was braver than all,
Against any odds, he could not fall.
He wasn't afraid of anybeast,
Could he be stopped in battle?
No, not in the least.
Keep rowing those oars
And let me speak.
Of the warrior mouse,
Who defended the weak.

Martin and Rose would meet one day,
It was love at first sight,
That much I can say.
They traveled to Noonvale,
A valley of peace,
Great seasons, you never saw such a feast.
Keep rowing those oars,
Now sad times come.
Follow the steady beat of the drum.

Martin took Rose to fight his foes,
He triumphed at the battle but returned with woes.
For cruelly, sweet Rose was slain,
Martin was fated to never love again.
Rose he kept locked in his heart,
For they had each played their part.
Of Noonvale he would never say,
But he thought of Rose every single day.
Keep pulling those oars,
The end is near,
It's okay to shed a tear.

Farther south, Martin found combat,
For Mossflower was ruled by a wildcat.
Martin won and brought peace to all,
And founded the order of Redwall.
Keep pulling those oars,
My story is done,
Let's sail west to the setting sun,
And I'll tell you another one.

Things I'm worried about:

1. The rhymes sometimes are a bit off

2. I don't think any rowing song would be this depressing...
