It was Sam's fault really, she'd took Jack and Sarah up to the farm for the day, and Sam just happen to let his dog destroy Jack's favourite teddy. So here she was at 9pm at the shopping centre replacing his teddy and hoping he wouldn't notice.

"Hold the door!" Debbie shouted as she ran to the lift.

A hand shot out and the doors flew open.

"Thanks." She breathed as she entered the lift, not stoping to look at the other passenger.

"Ah, Deborah, fancy seeing you here." The male smirked.

"Ross?" She sighed. "Could this day get any worse?"

"Don't act like you're not happy to see me. So, what brings you here, aren't you usually in bed at this time?"

"Not that it's any of your business, but Jack's teddy got..um...ruined. I had to go buy another one." She sent an eye roll in his direction. "You?"

"Just...you know, window shopping." He laughed. "Mainly the cars in underground car park."

"Oh, I get it." She gave a small laugh. "Planning which one you're going to nick next?"

"Something like that." He answered.

Suddenly the lift abruptly stopped, sending Debbie flying straight into Ross. The lift went pitch black.

"Watch it debs, I might get the wrong idea." He joked.

"I'd smack you if you I could actually see your face." She said sarcastically.

A few of the dim lights slowly came back on. Debbie immediately rushed over and pressed the emergency button, while Ross reached for the red phone.

"It's dead." He sighed

"What? So we can't even phone for help?" She raised her voice. "Well done, Ross."

"And how is this my fault exactly?" He questioned.

"I wouldn't be surprised if you planned it, you're that desperate these days." She said while stepping to the other side of the lift.

"Don't flatter yourself Debbie, I only like you as much as you like me."

"Oh, so that's not at all then!"

"Whatever." He said as he turned and started banging on the lift wall. After a few minutes he gave up and slid down the wall till he was sat on the floor.

"I'm sorry." Debbie sighed as she walked closer to him. "I shouldn't have had a go."

"No, it's fine." He looked down. "I should just get over you, right?, i guess me and women don't have a good history recently."

"Well, I hear Aaron's single if you fancied a change." They both let out a chuckle.

They sat in silence for a few minutes while Debbie pulled out her phone and sent a text.

To: Pete

From: Debbie

With Ross, stuck in lift, be home late x

Straight away her phone vibrated and she saw her boyfriend was ringing.

"Hello?...yeah Pete I'm fine...don't worry he's not being too annoying... Tell the kids goodnight from me...yeah, I love you too." She hung up.

"Perfect little boyfriend is he?" He mimicked.

"He's not as bad as you make him out to be." She sighed.

"Maybe he's a better boyfriend than he is a brother."

"I think he does pretty well when it comes to Finn, or even Adam" she raised her eyebrows.

"So it's my fault then?"

"I didn't say that, I just think you should give them a chance, they aren't as bad as you think."

"Yeah...well." He looked up at her. "You didn't have to grow up with them."

"True." She admitted . "But growing up a Dingle wasn't much fun either, believe me."

"I can imagine." He laughed.

"I think that we're gunna be here a while." She yawned.

"Well, I won't tell if you don't?" He opened his arms.

She shuffled closer to him. "Maybe just this once." She smiled.

"Yeah...just once."

She leaned her head on his shoulder, and minutes later they were both asleep.
