Chapter One: My Friend, Rainbow

Another morning in Ponyville has come. The sun rose over the green hills in the distance as ponies came out to greet each other and start their busy days. Spring is obviously here with the beautiful flowers sprouting everywhere.
I've never felt more alive in my life. I've never seen grass this green, roses so red, and ponies so happy. My horn and wings sparkle in the sunlight. I'm so proud to be an alicorn.
I just arrived here and I have no idea where to start. I guess finding a home would be a good first idea...or food.
Ponies have been eyeing me funny all morning. And I'm ashamed of it.
I'm in the middle of town square. I'm close enough to get to the bakery for food, but then it just had to happen.
"Hey! Look at that freak!" some pony yells out while pointing her hoof at me.
Before I know it I'm surrounded by ponies laughing and pointing at me.
I'm a freak.
They are gradually getting closer...and closer...they keep looking at my hind legs. I try to hide them, but it isn't working.
"Heeyyy!" I hear some pony shout from somewhere.
A pony pushes her way to the front to get to see me. She is sky blue and has a rainbow colored mane. It's beautiful.
"What are you guys laughing at?" she asks.
"Look at her cutie mark!"
What cutie mark?
She looks at my hips. There's no cutie mark. I am 18 years old and don't have my cutie mark...
"So what?" she yells, "Come on. Let's get out of here."
I follow right behind her. She is so cool!
I feel hundreds of eyes on me.
As soon as we're far enough away, she actually wants to talk to me.
"So what's your name? I'm Rainbow Dash, fastest flyer in the sky."
"Hello. I'm Crystal Moon, but I like the name Rainbow Dash better." I smile at her.
"Thanks! Hey, you look familiar. Do I know you?"
I stare at her. I know how she recognizes me, but if I tell her she won't want to be my friend.
"No. I've never left my home before," I respond.
"You're shy. You remind me of my friend Fluttershy."
"Cool! Can I meet her?"
"Someday, but I have something to hide your cutie mark that isn't there."
We keep walking until we come to this magnificent house in the sky. It's rested on some clouds and it has actual rainbows on it. It looks to be made of marble.
"Wow! That's amazing! Is that where you live?" I am amazed, "How do we get up there?" But she's way ahead of me. She flies up to the palace in the sky.
"Are you coming!?" she yells while she is hovering above her home.
I try to hide my face.
"You can fly, right?"
I look up to her.
"Oh my god. You can't fly."
I give a slight nod.
"Oh. I'll be right back, then."
She walks inside. This is just great. Now everyone knows I have NO cutie mark and I CAN'T fly. Great first day, Crystal. Good first impression.
