Author's Note: Well, this is my first Twilight fanfiction ever, so please be nice...it may be a bit short and rough around the edges, but I will get better, promise ). This first part of the story has been changed so many times and here is the final edit. Hope you like it!

Disclaimer: Twilight belongs to Stephenie Meyer. I'm just playing in her sandbox.

Ben and Jessica dragged me down to First Beach to have one last hurrah before we go away to college. Ky spineless self agreed and came against my better judgment. Now here I am upset, while everyone is around the bonfire, laughing and having a good time. No one seems to notice my absence.

Every wave that hits the shore brings a new memory back to me. Each memory, a happy one, but I'm still crying. Not even the beautiful sunset could calm me now. Something was missing in my life, perhaps insignificant, but necessary all the same.

Why can't I be so carefree? Why can't I accept what I have? It is all exactly what I've always wanted. I have everything. Then what could possibly be left?

All these questions have been rolling around in my head for what seems like hours now. I start to draw endless circles in the pearl white sand.

My eyes begin to search the endless shore for my last source of hope. I find him. I see Ben, looking the way he always does. His black hair whipping around in the fleeting wind, his glasses threatening to fall of his face as he jumps around the bonfire.

He is so full of life, so fulfilled. He is so content with his life mostly because I'm in it or so he says. It's just that right now, I feel like I can't be anything to him unless I know what is missing.

The wind starts to pick up and I hear my name being called from just across the way.

"Angela!" Ben's bright boyish face is staring at me, dead-on. My heart jumps, all my thoughts are starting to boil over. I'm frightened he might notice my growing doubt, but his expression doesn't change.

I sigh and smile, a hopeful smile. As I run, I try to picture us together forever. I reach his side and the second I grasp his hand, the smile fades and I know exactly what's missing.

Author's Note: Yes, it was extremely short, but I just wanted to present Angela's predicament. Jacob comes in the next chapter. I promise the next chapter will be much longer, just bear with me. So, all that's left is to click that pretty little button at the bottom and Review! Please!
