The Pet Shop, The Jewel Thief and The Rich Girl

Chapter 1: The Pet Shop

I am doing a character profile to let you get the feel of each character per chapter. Story will follow soon after

Bluebell Pet Shop was situated in one of those neighbourhoods that you just don't go into. Maybe its because when you pass by you are greeted by an unpleasant gang of teenage boys or you don't pass by because you have heard the rumours of them making their own radioactive waste to them hanging people off walls.

The sole workers at the pet shop were Kitty and Hunter, who were the most idle, uncaring workers in the entire state of New York but the fact the shop got about a customer per month made up for their staff's lack of skills. Kitty was your average egotistical beauty queen, hairspraying her luscious blonde locks into what was her only dream, 'the perfect bouffant'. Kitty had the man eating reputation to go with it, with every man dumping her as soon as they saw past her immaculate helmet hair and rosy smile with the exception of poor unfortunate Eddy who two months into their relationship went missing. Despite her failures, Kitty did not strive for true love, and therefore made flirty eyes with her false lashes at every customer – decent or indecent – that set foot in the shop.

Mike meanwhile was absorbed in nothingness. While there was nothing Kitty loved more than Kitty, there was nothing Mike loved more than nothing. The foul owner, the crumbly Mr Addy, loved nothing more than being impressed by the tremendous lengths of time Mike could spend staring at walls, into space, at cats, at empty bird cages, at anything.

Kitty and Mike had often trialled the inevitable idea of a romantic relationship between each other, however the mismatch in personality along with the fact they knew every general awkwardness that of each other drove them away from each other and had agreed the friendship between idle coworkers was more desirable than that of romantically involved ones.
