WARNING: SPOILERS FOR AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

(A/N: I just went to watch Avengers: Age of Ultron, and I was so angry that Pietro died, that I came straight back home and I wrote this. So, here's my anger/sadness all in one fic. Enjoy!)

Pietro was known to be impulsive. He had always been like that, even before Hydra had changed him. So of course when he saw Hawkeye, his least favourite Avenger, huddled on the ground and ready to die for a little boy he barely knew, Pietro ran.

And he got there in time. He managed to save them both. Pietro felt the bullets tearing through his jumpsuit and embedding themselves into his flesh, but he couldn't feel it. At least, until the adrenalin wore off.

Hawkeye looked up at him, and Pietro smirked at the confused look on his face.

"You didn't see that coming?"

Pietro's body didn't seem to want to hold him up anymore. And then it hit him.

Pain.

So much pain.

Waves of ice and fire and plain and simple pain.

Pietro wished he could stop feeling it. He saw his life flashing before his eyes. The happy days with Wanda and his parents. The bombing. Hydra. Becoming more than a human. Ultron. Joining, no becoming an Avenger.

Slowly blackness seeped into Pietro Maximoff's mind and vision. I'm sorry, Wanda. He thought, before blackness washed over him.

Black.

Darkness everywhere.

And then colour.

Light.

A flutter.

Awakening. Pietro could feel himself swimming. He was swimming through a pool of black, towards the light. He felt like he was drowning, but he kept going.

"Yeah, he'll be missed, quick little bastard. I miss him already." Agent Barton's voice echoed in his head. Pietro kicked harder.

"If you die, walk it off." Captain America's wise words coursed through his mind.

"I'll be right back." his father's last words before he blew up.

"My brave boy." his mother said. The light was fading, and Pietro's movements were getting sluggish.

"You promised." Wanda's voice. Pietro's head broke the water and he sucked in a breath, before popping upright in a bed and coughing.

He opened his eyes to see Wanda's happy, tear-stricken face and Agent Barton's beaming one. Barton opened his mouth.

"You didn't see that coming?"

(A/N: I hope that you enjoyed that. But anyways, please please please R&R! It keeps us writing.)
