memorial day

.

If there was one day Scorpius Malfoy hated, it was May 2nd.

He knew it was the day Voldemort had been defeated; the day the Light had triumphed over the Dark; the day that had brought both peace and grief to the wizarding world. He knew that it was a day to be remembered-

But it didn't mean he had to like it

Because, mind, it was also the day that his family lost everything. It was the day that his father locked himself into his bedroom and drankdrankdrank; the day that his mother looked even more glum than usual; the day his grandparents never even bothered to come out of their suite. It was the day he had to listen to speeches and memorials and honour war heroes that he knew his family's people had killed-

He felt guilty

Albus and Rose, they would never know their uncle Fred, because he'd been killed by Augustus Rookwood, the Death Eater. Teddy would never meet his parents, because they'd been taken down in the Battle of Hogwarts – for every fighter who had died during that horrid night, there was a mother and a father who had lost their child, a sibling who'd lost their brethren, a lover who'd lost their other half.

Scorpius wasn't stupid, he knew it wasn't his fault all these people had been killed. But he couldn't help feeling guilty, anyways, and that angered him, because his father's friend Vincent Crabbe had died during the battle; his grandmother's older sister had been taken down by Molly Weasley; his grandfather's best mate had died as an indirect result of the downfall of Voldemort-

War, like everything else, was and is still unfair

.

Now, why did I write this? Because I adoooore Scorpius and his dysfunctional family, that's why :D Because he's innocent, really. You know, he could have been born in a family like the Weasleys, a family that actually did something productive for the resistance, but noooo Astoria and Draco had to have a kid :/

So, yeah, I'd appreciate if you review, especially if you favourited/alerted as a plus :D
