Author Note: I have been stuck on this for a few days now. I was reading some other Tokka fanfiction and my brain started turning. So I decided to write a short one-shot.
Disclaimer: I own nothing.
The war was over. After struggling against the Fire Lord we finally won. More like Aang won, but everyone else helped. Mostly Sokka, he did the best. But I might be a little biased.
He did save me from falling debris and falling into a giant pit of fire.
For some reason, my heart seemed ready to burst in those moments. It wasn't the 'OMG I am going to die' kind of bursting. It was something different.
I wandered away from the group as they all chattered about who knows what. My feet had a mind of their own as my brain was occupied.
What did I feel earlier? I mean, I was about to die, but I wasn't scared. All I could feel as I dangled was Sokka's hand clinging to mine.
I must be going insane.
I stubbed my toe on something hard. It felt like some kind of metal. It turned out to be boomerang sitting right next to the space sword.
Maybe they were lonely and landed together on purpose. I didn't care as I scooped both of them up, heading back in the direction I came from.
I stayed out of sight of the group as I thought about how to return the weapons to Sokka without seeming suspicious. I decided to chuck the boomerang in his general direction.
"Ouch! BOOMERANG! You came back to me."
It seemed to work, judging by the volume increase.
The sword was harder; you don't just throw a sword at someone. Somehow, Suki snuck up behind me.
"Hi there Toph, what do you have there?"
I turned around, hiding the sword behind my back.
"Nothing, why?"
"It is not nothing. Come on now, hand it over."
Suki took the sword from me with little difficulty. I just pouted and tried to keep her quiet about it. She didn't get the message.
"Hey Sokka, guess what?"
He had been rubbing his face against his boomerang like a child does with a long lost toy.
"I don't know? Boomerang came back?"
"Toph found your sword."
"Really?"
He ran over towards us.
"Thanks a bunch Toph. I don't think I ever would have found it."
Sokka wrapped his arms around me in a grateful hug.
I was trying with all my dignity not to blush.
The feeling was back.
End note: So, what do you think? Any good? I had issues with the whole blind thing, so I just didn't reference it.
