Life is made of missed opportunities.

This was a notion that Jack Sparrow firmly believed in. As many chances you took in life there would always be a dozen more that you could have taken, but didn't. There was no point dwelling on it that could make you mad.

Though many people have said Jack was mad in his lifetime, never to his face of course unless they wanted to see how well a "mad-man" worked a sword, so the prospect of madness did not stop him dwelling on one William Turner and the possible life he could have had with him.

Remembering the noble and honest but oh-so-stupid blacksmith always brought a dull ache in the region of his chest, the kind of ache only previously brought about by his lost beloved pearl. Mostly he liked to think this ache meant he missed the companionship the boy gave, though he chose to ignore the fact he had Gibbs or any other member of his crew available for such things, he liked to believe he missed the chance of friendship the promise of which was held in the boys eyes.

He ignored that when he was in bed at night, with only the rum bottle beside him, how he almost longed for the work worn body of Will Turner beside him, honey skin close enough to taste, and when he woke from a particularly vivid dream in need for a long dip in the ocean well that was only 'cause of the length of time spent at sea and the heat of the night.

It was defiantly NOT because he felt something towards the boy, after all pirates absolutely do not fall for young naïve blacksmiths. No they rape and pillage and never fell remorse, attachment or love. Particularly love. Pirates loved nothing but themselves, treasure and the sea.

So Jack couldn't explain the almost painful blossoming of emotion in his chest when he saw that perhaps he hadn't missed his opportunity. Because why else would fate deem fit to bring William Turner back to him unless it was for Jack to finally act upon this unexplainable thing he felt.

This time Jack Sparrow would not miss his opportune moment.
