Disclaimer: I do not own Pokemon.
Youngster Joey, or actually known as Joey Young, woke up to a fine day in the orphanage of Cherrygrove City. Today was the day he could leave the orphanage and go on his journey to become the next master. He yawned, placing his blue cap over his black hair and looking into the mirror with his brown eyes. After studying his reflection of wearing a yellow shirt and a pair of blue shorts like the other youngsters in the orphanage, Joey followed the line of orphans to go and find a place in the world.
As soon as they walked into Elm's lab, Joey noticed that there were only two Pokemon available, but three trainers. The first, a boy named Gold Carter, took a Cyndaquil, that he named Exbo. The girl, Crystal, picked a Chikorita named Megaree. It seemed that Totodile was missing from the trio, and it might have escaped, or as the professor mentioned, was stolen by a boy with red hair and his Weavile.
"Sorry Joey, but I have no other official starters," Professor Elm apologized. Joey smiled sadly and was about to follow the two trainers out, when Professor Elm stopped him.
"I may have one Pokemon for you though," he said, as Joey looked hopeful. The professor set out a purple sleeping rat, that Joey looked at with slight disdain. Even a Magikarp would have been better, as it evolved to a powerful Gyarados. But, not a Rattata.
"I know it is not what you wanted, but…" The Professor trailed off.
"I will take it," Joey said, sighing. He returned the purple rat into the ball and thanked the professor, walking out of the lab in the process.
Joey's first battle, against a wild Hoothoot, did not go so well. Rattata nearly fainted, as Joey was careless and forgot that Tail Whip could be useful in battle as well. Joey ran back to Professor Elm's lab and healed the little rat, who smiled at him gratefully.
"All right, Rattata, maybe we need to fight something weaker," Joey said. Rattata nodded and waited till they reached a weaker Hoothoot.
"Quick Attack," Joey ordered, as the little rat rammed its tiny body into the Hoothoot. Said bird had swirls in its eyes.
Just then, Joey realized that he could not catch the bird. Why? He had no Pokeballs. Rattata glowed with health as its level rose and its teeth grew as well as the tiny claws on its paws. Then, it looked at Joey once more.
"You know, I think I can use you… I will train you, and only you… And make you into a top percent Rattata."
A/N: Why not do a story about our famous Youngster Joey? Here is proof that a Rattata can be TOP PERCENT! Believe it!
Also, OCs are allowed. However, they will appear as one time trainers. Also, they can only have Kanto and Johto Pokemon.
