Praying for Less Potions

For dimitrisgirl18's "Pairing Drabble Competition". Severus/Dominique- Out of Control. SNAPE IS NOT DEAD.

"Are you excited for your first day of Hogwarts?"

"Yes, mom"

"And sweetheart, just remember, sit in the back of the room in potions, got it?"

"Yes. I'll see you on Christmas break. Bye."

Dominique Weasley hugged her mother and father, and boarded the bus holding her trunk and a tuna wrap. She found an empty compartment and sat down. She closed and locked the door of the small room. She put her hands up to prayer position on the small table and started to whisper a small prayer:

"Dear God, or, you know, whoever. I have heard rumours about Mister Snape. And, well, I'm really worried. I would rather not get his class a lot this year. I have never been very good at Potions, I'm better at Charms. And, you know, if I do get Potions a lot, then PLEASE make me better at potions. I think I should get on Snape's good side. So, do what you can, Great Force of Wizards. Or, you know, whatever. Thanks. See you later I guess."

Dominique unlocked the compartment door and looked at her watch. 1:00 already? It was time to eat. She took out her tuna wrap and took a large bite, only then realizing how hungry she was. Then a large black shadow was cast over the train, and Dominique looked out the window. They were at Hogwarts! After the train stopped and evacuated, she happily hopped onto the boat with Hagrid to get sorted. Twenty minutes later, Dominique was standing in line with the rest of the first years to be sorted. Another ten minutes later- "Weasly, Dominique"

Dominique walked up to the stool, sure as the sky was blue that she would be in Gryffindor. After a few seconds (Though it felt more like hours) of consideration, the hat upon her head screamed to the Great Hall, "Slytherin!" Dominique froze, though her legs carried her to the Slytherin table, which was filled with children staring her down, judging her from every angle. She sat down and stared up to the Staff Table, where a man was staring, confused at Dominique. After dinner and the sorting, Snape was still pondering the fact that a relative one of the "Great Gryffindor Trio" was placed in Slytherin. He walked over to Dominique and said very coldly, "Miss Weasly? Could you follow me to my office?" Dominique was confused. "Yes, sir."

A little while later, Dominique was sitting facing her House Head and Potions Professor, praying not to be in trouble on her first day of school. Snape was praying for this to go well.

"Miss Weasley, I just wanted to know if you were good at potions."

"Well, that was random," thought Dominique.

"I am only asking this for the safety of the other students, as your father, and your uncle, and, well, all your uncles have caused extreme… issues that have threatened the safety of this school. So, let us pray that you should do well this year."

"Oh… okay."

Dominique Weasley and Severus Snape held hands, and together, prayed to their own wizarding God. "Hopefully," they each prayed, "this year will be an easy year… a year without harm or confusion."

But, secretly, they knew that this would never be the case.
