Yuki knew he was being unfair. He knew that the cat shouldn't be treated the way that he had always treated the boy, but it was a natural response. Deep down in his heart, he knew that the cat would not take it personally. He knew that cat wasn't that easily broken by his cruel, hurtful words. They were just words being thrown back and forth between rivals. They meant nothing.
On the other hand, if things were to happen in the opposite direction, say if the cat took the words literally to heart, then pieces of furniture would be flying and tears would be shed. Just the thought of that happening, had him shivering from head to toe and it wasn't even cold out.
"Are you okay, Yuki? You're not coming down with a fever are you?"
Yuki blinked and realized that the brunette had said something and shook his head, a wry smile appeared on his lips,
"I'm alright, Miss Honda. It's nothing to cause alarm over."
"If you're going to catch a cold or a fever, then you should remember to bring a jacket, you damn rat," the voice of the cat zodiac broke the small interaction. Yuki looked up to retort, but found the red jacket thrust in front of him. He narrowed his eyes playfully,
"Why would I want something from you? I don't want to be cursed."
The air around them had shifted somehow and Yuki knew that he treaded on dangerous waters. The cat stood stiff at the words and began to withdraw his hand, but Yuki's own shot forward and grasped the item,
"But I don't mind if it's from you. Besides, I can't be cursed any more than I already am, could I?"
The cat's hand seemed to slack when Yuki brought the item of clothing into his arms and wrapped himself in it. He looked up to see the cat walking away. Yuki knew that he didn't need to say his thanks, the little things, like the rare interactions, were enough to convey their feelings for each other. It was the only way for rivals like them, to ever have a fine balance between friendship and rivalry.
