-The Healing Powers of Chocolate Cake-
"So what then. Are we finished?" Hermione and Ron had been dating for almost a year now. Ron had finally mustered up the courage and asked her out in the middle of fourth year, during the Triwizard Tournament.
"Yes." Ron was short.
"But... Why? Whats wrong?"
"I'm just not really.. into it anymore. I'm sorry."
"Is there someone else then?!"
Ron just looked down at Hermione's accusation. That was all the confirmation she needed.
"What the bloody hell Ron? How long?" She demanded.
"Nothing happened. I just can't be with you when i know I want to be with someone else."
Hermione just turned on her heel and stormed out of the boys' dorm. Ron collapsed onto his bed. He had known since he discovered the feelings he had that he would have to tell her about it. He just didn't think it would be so hard on her. She hadn't even let him finish telling her what it was. Just then he walked in. Ron sat up so fast he hit his head on the wall. (A/N: for those of you doubting, yes, this is possible. I do it all the time. Just don't ask me how I manage it.)
"Oi, Ron, you all right?" Seamus asked.
"Y-y-y-yes." Ron managed to struggle out.
"You sure mate?"
Now all Ron could do is nod. He was bright read, and breathing heavily. Seamus noticed and started to come over. He put a hand to Ron's forehead. Ron sucked in his breath as he did so.
"You're burning up! You should go to the hospital wing!"
"No!" Ron said forcefully. He softened when he saw the shocked look on Seamus' face.
"I'm not sick. I just..." He broke off as Seamus moved towards him. Ron moved forward and surprised Seamus by pressing his lips over the other boys. When Seamus tensed, Ron started to pull away. To his surprise, Seamus pulled him back in.
"No." He muttered into Ron's lips.
Hermione walked into the Great Hall later that night to see Ron and Seamus sitting at the table, holding hands. Instead of running away again, like her mind was screaming at her to do, she walked over and sat across from them. She grabbed a giant slab of chocolate cake and dug in. Suddenly being at the table with them felt just a little bit less shitty.
