A/N: This is my first Phantom of the Opera story so be patient, please. It's also a modern re-telling with Raoul and Christine's great (three generations) granddaughter and Erik's descendent, Michael, who has his ancestor's disfigurement as well.
Read and review, too!

Chapter One
As she was walking through the corridors of the Paris Opera House, seventeen year old Christine de Chagny couldn't help but think of what had happened there so many years ago. Her great-great-great grandmother, Christine the first, had been the victim of a vicious love triangle that ended with her fiancé almost hanged. After Christine gave the legendary Phantom of the Opera, Erik, what he desired, he let them leave so long as they never spoke a word of what had happened down in the cellars of the Opera to anyone.
The teen shook her head to chase those thoughts away. "It was just a story," she whispered to herself. It was just a story…. Christine was so wrapped up in her thoughts that she didn't notice the cloaked figure watching from the shadows. "Christine….." The hair on the back of Christine's neck stood on end as she suddenly heard her name called. She looked around to see if anyone had followed her.
The corridor was empty…..
Finally, scared that she was going mad, Christine hurried back to her dorm room. "Christine," Michelle Giry said as the younger girl noticed how pale Christine was, "are you feeling ok? You look like you're going to be sick." Christine stared at Michelle and thought so would you if you thought you were hearing disembodied voices, too but said, "It's nothing, Michelle. I'm ok." Michelle stared at Christine for a minute and went back to bed. As Christine got ready for bed herself, she couldn't help but think about the voice she had heard. Maybe his ghost really haunts this place now after so many years… She thought to herself.
The next morning, the ballerinas were rehearsing for an opera that was to be performed the week before the Christmas holidays. None of the girls, nor their ballet mistress, noticed the cloaked figure standing behind one of the backdrops, watching Christine. Michael felt a smile tug at his lips. Soon, he thought to himself, soon, she will be mine.
A/N: Wow. This was a good start. Don't you think? Please, read and review!
