The hot sun shined down on the small log house on the grassy field. There was a dirt path that ran through the forest, past the house and over the flowery hill. The win blew outside, knocking a few apples off of the tree and onto the ground. A cotton-candy pink hedgehog sat on a chair, looking out the window. She wore a pair of dirty old jeans, a blue shirt and pink high tops. She had her long spikes up in a pony tail, with only her bangs hanging out. Setting her hand down on the window sill, she sighed and closed her sky blue eyes. Things were really quiet out here in the country. The family she lived with was really boring. The only things they did were cleaning and reading. Even the kids were boring. There were two of them: Lilly and Skippy, a girl and a boy. Lilly only liked to play with paper dolls alone in her room and Skippy only liked to read mystery novels. All Clover, the pink hedgehog, did all day was sit by the window thinking. Clover sighed again and jumped when she heard Skippy's voice.

"Will you keep it down, Clove?" The red fox asked, looking up from his book. His grass-green eyes were looking right at Clover's blue ones.

"Go read somewhere else, Skippy," Clover told the nine year old fox. "I'm busy thinking."

"Thinking about…" Skippy said, taking his eyes off of Clover and looking at the wooden clock that hung over the door.

Skippy always wanted to know what Clover was thinking about, which annoyed her a lot. Who cared what she thought about? Not even Ruby or Kit, Lilly and Skippy's parents, bothered her about that.

"None of you bee's wax, Skip," Clover said, sticking out her tongue. The young fox brushed his puffy red tail with his paws, rolling his eyes. But with that, the young fox kit sighed, grabbed his book off of the chair he was sitting on, and walked out of the room into his own bedroom, leaving Clover alone. Now Clover could think in peace and quiet.

The fifteen year old hedgehog usually thought about school, where her teacher was Mrs. Beaver. Sometimes she thought about what was beyond that old, spooky forest in the back of her house. But today, she was thinking about her past life, even though she barely remembers it. The only thing that kept her connected to her past life was the silver locked she always wore around her neck. She never took it off. In it, there was a picture of her parents. Her REAL parents, not her foster ones. Clover decided she should take off her locket. She did so and set it on the window sill. She opened the locket and looked at the picture inside. It was a picture of her parents, two smiling hedgehogs, one pink and one blue, standing next to a small, five year old Clover. Clover felt a tear roll down her face as she remembered her parents and that horrible day when she came home from school and found that her parents were gone. That was the day she was declared an orphan. But she knew her parents weren't dead. Why else would she still have hope after ten long years?

A/N

So can you guess who Clover's parents are? It's pretty obvious. There will be more information to what happened to her parents in future chapters. But for now, you just have to hang tight, read and review! See ya!
