An: I blame TvTropes and a nagging desire to rewrite thrice-damned Amber Memories despite homework and other love-starved plot bunnies. #_# Given my track record, you can take this either as a stand-alone bit or possible set-up for a mulit-chapter. Don't count on anything.
Warnings: Violence. Semi-graphic (?) character death. Takes place immediately after Dan and co. depart at the end of New Vestroia. Possible cliché/OOCness. TvTropes will ruin your life. Btw, has anyone else noticed that Fabia looks like Shun's dead mother?
Disclaimer: I do not own Bakugan.

Mira's heart sank as the portal disappeared, hand outstretched with the plea she'd held back just seconds too late. "Dan." Her brother's touch was at her shoulder in an instant, warm and reassuring. "Hey." The red head crumbled, breathe hitching as she realized how much she'd missed her brother. Had been for so long that she'd lost Keith just like mother. And now father.
"Mira.." The blonde frowned, voice softened as the tiny Vestal turned, arms wrapping around him in a desperate hug. How many times had his little sister attached herself in the same way after one of her childhood nightmares? But this time the monsters had left their mark. "Don't worry. You'll see him again in hell."
Shock exploded in a screech of boots over metal as Gus caught the aqua-haired lover in the stomach before he could rush across the floor, and the terrible snap that shattered reality helped Baron find his voice again.
Spectra ignored the roar in his ears, turning before the brawler had lunged and pulling the younger boy off balance fast enough that Baron went flying past and his arm refused to follow. The pink haired boy screamed, jerking to a stop before the phantom let him fall beside the Resistance's now dead leader. "M-Mira..ah."
"Be quiet, now." Spectra set his foot against the boy's cheek, pressing down thoughtfully. Another moment and a shattered temporal bone urged red out of ringing ears, kicks beating shouts wordless and blinding out of him while Ace snarled like a mad dog with bloody foam at the corners of its lips. The Darkus user scrambled, chest sizzling as he tried to force himself across the light coming from Gus' gauntlet and wring the bastard's throat, fingers clawing rabidly.
Baron went limp before he went deaf, staring at the back of Mira's neck tearfully, the awkward angle forcing the horror in his chest to swell with panic before a final unheard crack crashes through his skull and all goes dark.
"…" Gus stepped away, blade shimmering out of sight and allowing the last resistance member to join the others on the ground. He was unsurprised to see his master already fixing the mask he'd pretended to discard into place again, waiting patiently. A satisfied smirk hung in the older man's voice, coat whispering over the hair of his victims when he stepped forward, headed back up to the observation deck without looking back. "Gus, would you dispose of our guests?"
"Of course, sir."
End note: Oh, Baron died. :3 So, we'll see if it goes anywhere else from here. Keith/Spectra was a heck of a lot more likeable as an irredeemable evil *beep* Why not team up with the good guys for a bit and bide your time?
