Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, the great J. does. Nor do I own the song which inspired this fic.

A/N: Just something that came to me while I was listening to the song Wish you were here by Blackmore's Knight.
Enjoy.

Minerva sat at the edge of the lake like she had done so many times since Albus had left to help the other order members out on a mission. He had been gone for just over four months now and Minerva was really starting to worry as she hadn't heard a single word from him or any of the others.

The students and staff had noticed that she smiled even less then she used to, she always wore her beautiful waist long raven hair down and she never sat in Albus' chair in the Great Hall or the Staff Room. She felt so depressed. She had stopped sleeping the night Albus had left and along with the duties of teaching, Head of Gryffindor, Deputy Headmistress and Headmistress was really pulling her down. And now her heart was tearing in two.

Minerva looked up at the starry sky and talked to the heavens, wishing that Albus could hear her.

"Oh, Albus, I wish you were here. I miss you so much and I fear you will fail to return to me as you promised. The little hope that I have grasped is slowly slipping away. Every time I wake I feel a little bit of myself has been lost. I love you with every fibre of my being. I wish you were here with me, my love." Minerva allowed her tears to fall once more as she wrapped herself tighter in one of Albus' cloaks.

Just as the sun was rising and Minerva was preparing herself to head into the castle, a large soft hand on her shoulder startled her. She jumped up, her wand pointed at the tall man now standing in - front of her. It Minerva a moment or two to register who is was that had walked up to her in the wee hours of the morning.

As the light from the rising sun made his long silver beard glisten and showed the twinkle in his eyes, Minerva collapsed into her husbands' arms and the tears flowed down her cheeks for the third time that night.

"Albus. I. Didn't. Think. You. Were. Going. To -" Minerva managed to say between sobs.

"Hush love. I'm here now. I believe I heard you wishing my dear, and I am so sorry for causing you so much distress. If only I had listened more carefully, then I would have been here with you so much sooner."

Minerva rested her head on Albus' shoulder as he scooped her up in his strong arms and carried her to their rooms.

Neither of them showed up at the breakfast feast as they were still lay in their rooms making gentle love.
