Lies. That was all it was built on, nothing but lies. Coldness fell over him like a shroud; the lies acting like stitches sewing him into its clutches readying him for burial. Glancing around, her room he couldn't help but notice that there was not much that showed that an occupant had even lived there for the past four years.
Yeah, he thought sarcastically, that was the way of the Peacekeepers. Their material lives kept to a minimum; after all, the chance of dying in battle was greater then that of surviving. She spoke of love. He glanced at the Peacekeeper lieutenant's jacket lying on her bunk. Love for a man called John Crichton. Lies. Yes, she should know about lies. If she loved him how could she discard that love like the jacket? How could she discard him... It was all based on lies. After all wasn't that what the Peacekeepers had taught her, nothing but lies. She had called it "Peacekeeper lies."
Turning away from the room, all hope drained from him like his life's blood. Who would have thought that it was possible for him to give up on hope? The moment she left in that crappy little ship she had taken it with her. She was the only reason to hang on that little word…that very simple feeling. Hope that one day she would be his. Hope she would let the past go and become the woman he loved. Even that hope was gone. All he had left was the truth. With the final lie, the last stitch was placed into his shroud; his very soul was ready for the grave. Without her what was left to live for?
He turned from the cold of that room and slowly walked down the corridor trailing his fingers along the bulkhead walls. His tread was soft as his heart was hard; with no love, no hope, no life, only Peacekeeper lies.
