Good Byes
"Do you have to go this early?" Church groaned in protest trying to drag the red head back to him.
"You know how they get when I'm late," Allison reminded him trying to pull out of his grasp.
"It's not like they would fire you from the military," Church snorted.
"I have a duty to our country and part of that duty is not being late," Allison scolded him teasingly.
"What about your duties to your husband," Church whined still tugging on the camo uniform.
"Bye Church," Allison smiled heading towards the door.
"Don't say that," Church snapped automatically.
Allison stopped then turned around her eyebrows raised. "And why not?" she demanded.
"Because goodbye sounds like you are not coming home. If you don't come home I… I can't live without you Allison," Church growled.
"But what if I didn't come home? What if I died out there fighting for our country? If you don't say goodbye sometime then you will never let that person go. They haunt you and you expect them to suddenly appear. You dream about them and wake up alone and miserable. If you don't say goodbye it will kill you as slowly and as painfully as possible. You won't be able to move on," Allison murmured leaning in and kissing him.
Church leaned his forehead against her and sighed, "There is nothing after you."
Again their lips met in a kiss before Allison slowly pulled away and walked to the door. Before leaving she turned back and murmured, "Goodbyes Leonard."
Church watched her leave for the last time before muttering, "I hate goodbyes."
