Vader knew he was dying.

Noises.

People running about.

Screams.

Explosions.

Pain.

Pain.

Hurt everywhere.

Vader closed his eyes.

Just . . . let me rest for a while . . . then I'll come with you, Luke . . . thought Vader.

Then he momentarily lost consciousness.

Anakin opened his eyes.

He sat up and looked around, not knowing where he was.

Naboo.

He looked down and noticed that he still had a braid.

Anakin closed his eyes, breathed in and then . . . breathed out.

Then he smiled, sniffing the air.

Flowers . . .

He opened his eyes and noticed that the whole place was carpeted with delightful-smelling flowers.

He looked around.

Where's everybody gone ?

Where's Padme ?

Where's . . .

He looked up.

The sky was so blue, and the sun was so bright . . . Too bright . . .

He was being blinded by the sun light.

Lightening.

Thundering.

The sky was dark grey.

Anakin found himself standing under a big tree.

Obi-Wan was standing beside him.

"Obi-Wan . . ." Anakin somehow noticed he had not seen his mentor for a long, long time.

Obi-Wan turned to look at Anakin then he smiled.

They were on a remote planet.

The Clone Wars were nearly over.

A minute later, they were standing side by side, holding hands - like a father and a son, like brothers and like . . . lovers.

Obi-Wan looked up at the grey sky.

"Anakin . . . it looks like rain."

Anakin looked up.

Then as if Obi-Wan ordered the sky to drop rain drops . . . it started to rain. Just some light drizzle.

"Anakin," Obi-Wan looked at him mischievously. "Why don't you go out there and taste the rain."

"What ?"

"The rain that falls on this planet tastes really sweet. People actually drink it."

Anakin hesitated.

"Go on, Anakin." Obi-Wan nudged him gently.

Then Anakin stepped out into the drizzling rain.

Anakin looked up at the sky, his tongue out.

The rain . . .

It was so sweet . . .

It reminded him of the bread his Mom baked every morning back on Tatooine when he was little and the chocolate waffles Obi-Wan made on Sundays.

The things of the past.

Suddenly, Anakin felt terribly alone.

He looked over at Obi-Wan who was standing under the tree.

He was still there.

He was always there for him.

Obi-Wan was looking at him adoringly.

Anakin looked up again . . . but the rain no longer tasted sweet.

He felt a raindrop on his lips and . . . licked the droplet.

Anakin frowned.

It was salty.

It was . . . a teardrop.

Vader regained consciousness.

Luke was crying.

His teardrops kept falling on Vader's now exposed face.

Vader looked up.

Then he saw sorrow and forgiveness in his son's eyes.
