Thump. Thump. Thump.
The tune is like a heartbeat, General Arma thought, The notes are unworldly, and the words string a tale of struggle...
The obsidian hawk-like demon squatted upon the rubble he had caused in awe at the prize he held; the ipod, they called it. The ravishingly small, but sophisticated digital music player was in his hand, the chords of the giant headphones delicately entangled in his fingers as he listened to the interesting sounds. These layers of melodies were the only thing that could be heard in the silence around him.
This noise... no, this thing called music, how could it be? He never realized how strong such music can be. The instruments that these modern humans used, he felt, still throbbing with sensations and emotions known only to him and that a violin or a harpsichord couldn't express.
And how did these humans come up with this poetry? It was if they had read the general's mind; it was as if they cut off his skullcap, took out his brain and explored it for memories and vibes. The words described his state of mind and well being; they danced with his memories, met with his ideals and philosophies and clashed with his duties his duties to fulfill Phalanx's appalling tasks. How was it possible? For that, he may never know. Still, it was amazing how something so small carried something so powerful... feelings, expressed in song.
A certain verse seemed to strike a melancholy chord in General Arma's heart, for he sighed gloomily and closed his eyes suddenly, wishing that he could find some peace in the music. If only, if only...
On the day the storm has just begun,
I will hope there are better days to come...
A/N - Arma and Demon's Crest belongs to Capcom. The lyrics in it are from the song Sentinel by VNV Nation. I'm still slightly peeved they haven't done a remake or at least imported the game to the DS. I would so buy it. Also, old drabble is old. I did this in February of last year. o_o;
