Soooo...I finally started on the expansion of this piece... You can check it out on my profile under 'Rise of the Red Hood' I've only got the Prologue and first chapter up, but I'd love to hear what you think!
'Jason's dead'
Really, that's what it all came back to.
That's why Dick Grayson-and subsequently Nightwing- was missing.
That's why Timothy Drake was now Robin.
That's why Wallly West had more-or-less quit the hero business.
That's why Joker was finally six feet under.
'Jason's dead'
That was the dealbreaker.
That's what sent him over the edge.
Richard Grayson was normally a very nice person.
All his life he was told 'be nice' 'be nice' 'be nice'.
But now he was angry.
So he had stopped being nice and haddestroyedthe subjects of his anger.
'Jason's dead'
And that's why.
With his little brother gone, Dick gave up.
He gave up hope in Justice;
That it could be enough.
With the boy murdered
-Red Hood born in that moment-
He didn't have hope in anything.
Anything but revenge.
'Jason's dead'
The team is tasked with stopping him;
They're still too inexperienced to catch up to him.
Too naive.
Too innocent.
Dick isn't innocent.
He hasn't been in a very long time.
Besides that, he hacked their comm link.
He knows their every move.
'Jason's dead'
And really, so is Red Hood:
In all the ways that count.
Red Hood is alone,
something Dick was always afraid to be.
Red Hood has no friends,
no allies,
no purpose,
no reason to live.
Because,
'Jason's dead'
and it's weird,
because Dick has watched countless civilians die;
And it never bothered him.
I mean, it bothered him in the way
that he wished it didn't have to happen like that.
But there were no shed tears over them..
They were a statistic.
Even Bruce would agree He's a sociopath.
Now it's even worse.
'Jason's dead'
that's why.
A/n: Sooooo, this is unedited, so I will come back and do that...This is my Au where when Jason dies Dick Grayson disappears and becomes Red Hood. He kills Joker and other Villians... I may expand on it later, so tell me what you think!
