"Please?"
"No."
"Please?"
"No, Magnus!"
"But why not?"
Alec huffed and uncrossed his arms, spreading his palms out wide. "Because. I am a guy. Guys do not wear eyeliner."
Magnus grinned evilly. "You're right."
"I am?"
"Guys wear guyliner! Now get your little Shadowhunter butt over here and let me make you pretty."
"Absolutely not!" Alec started backing away as Magnus advanced on him, waving the little black tube threateningly.
"Alexander, we are going to a club. A gay club. And if you think that anyone will look at you twice for wearing eyeliner, we have more serious problems than I previously thought."
Alec groaned and closed his eyes. "You already stuffed me into this outfit," he hissed, gesturing to his clothes. Magnus had snatched him and snapped the clothes on him. Skinny jeans. A blue shirt. A black leather jacket… well, actually, he liked the jacket, but he wasn't about to admit that to Magnus.
"And you look hot! I was so right about that color shirt; it totally brings out your eyes… which brings us back to the matter at hand! You will be wearing eyeliner!"
"Aren't you already wearing enough makeup for the both of us?"
"No," Magnus said shortly. "Now come here, or I will be forced to set the Chairman on you."
Alec feigned horror. "No! Not the mini kitty!"
Magnus' eyes flashed and the corners of his mouth tilted upwards. "Oh, you've done it now."
With that, the warlock launched himself into the air and tackled Alec onto the couch. Magnus settled himself astride the Shadowhunter, his long legs bent on either side of Alec's body.
Alec heard a brief crackling and saw that Magnus' palm was full of blue fire. He saw the flames flash for a moment, then suddenly his body seized up, frozen.
He tried to move, but to no avail. "Magnus!" he shouted. "What did you do?"
"Made you stay still," Magnus said with a smirk. "Now don't blink."
He leaned forward and Alec felt something cool and wet slide along his lower eyelid. Magnus's gentle fingers held Alec's eye open while the eyeliner dried, then he did the top lid. Magnus repeated the process on the other eye, then sat back, a satisfied smirk on his lips.
"You can go look in the mirror now, hot stuff. And don't bother trying to wipe it off."
Alec grumbled unintelligibly as Magnus let him up. He stomped into the bathroom and shut the door, then turned to look at himself in the mirror.
His eyes widened as he caught sight of himself in the mirror. He looked… like himself, but enhanced, somehow. His eyes were captivating, electric blue. His hair lay smooth and shiny for once, and his skin looked pale and supple.
This is what you've always wanted to look like, a tiny voice in the back of his head whispered. You finally look like you.
"Well? What do you think?" Magnus' voice snapped him out of his reverie.
Alec shook his head and opened the bathroom door, arranging his grin into a carefully nonchalant expression.
"It's alright."
