The Chicken or the Egg?
By Mistreated and Forgotten
Summary: Daniel discovers the answer to an age old question. What came first, the chicken or the egg?
Disclaimer: I, unfortunately, don't own the Stargate franchise or its characters.
A/N: The idea for this story came about when I looked at the TV and saw someone telling a chicken or the egg joke so I thought I would put an SG-1 twist on it. This story doesn't fit into a particular point in the Stargate Timeline but it does fit into the Season 9 era. I apologise for any mistakes in advance, enjoy :)
Doctor Daniel Jackson sat in his lab energetically translating a tablet that SG-15 had recently brought back from their latest mission to PZX 452. The language on the tablet was new language they had never come across before and was based on the Ancient Greek language.
First preliminary translations of the tablet indicated that the tablet could hold the very elusive answer to the age old question. What came first, the chicken or the egg? Everyone at the SGC was eager to find out the answer.
For the last week Daniel had been working tirelessly to finish this translation as he. Usually Daniel would work the distractions of the SGC. However, for the first few days after receiving the tablet he had trouble doing his job. That was due in part to a certain Brigadier General who saw to it that he visited his archaeologist friend what seemed like every fifteen minutes for the whole week whilst he was on base.
Daniel shot up from his position hunched over his desk. "I've done it! I've found the answer!" Daniel muttered before he rushed out of his lab.
As he ran through the corridors of the SGC on his way up Jack O'Neill's office Daniel bumped into numerous SGC personnel. Each time he continued on past excitedly without even muttering an apology.
Jack had just gotten off the phone with General Hammond when Daniel barged into his office. "I did it Jack!"
There was a pause while Jack waited for Daniel to continue but when he didn't Jack urged him to continue. "Are you gonna tell me Daniel?"
"Yes, yes of course. I found the answer to the chicken or the egg."
"I've got money on it being the chicken, please tell me it's the chicken."
Daniel began is short speech on what he had discovered. "The first half of the text points out evidence for why the chicken came first and also why the egg did. But, the tablet doesn't start to become interesting until the second half where it goes on to say that the egg did indeed come first," the smile on Jack's face fell at this news, "but because of a mutation caused when two different species…"
"Just hurry up and give me the answer Daniel," said Jack frustrated with Daniel's rambling.
"The answer to this mystery of the universe? Well basically the tablet says there isn't one."
A/N: I don't think this is very good but thanks for reading. Please review :)
