Behold a mare, small and meek

Her heart is strong but her light is weak,

she lights the way so none my fear

the lovely night, so strong and clear.

The 3 fillies read the plaque and looked to the statue of a mare who'd been called a guardian of the night. "The Legend goes that she vowed to show all of Equestria the beauty of the night, and to show them that it wasn't all that scary." Sweetiebell nodded. "It goes on to say that as she got older she found she might not be able to uphold her vow, due to her mortality, so she went on a quest to find the secret to becoming an Alucorn, so she could always be by Princess Luna's side." Applebloom sighed wistfully. "Even if it IS just an old mare's tale, it's still kinda pury don't ya think?" Scootalue nodded in agreemeant. "The legend went on about her finding the secret but that the spell she used backfired. Some say this statue IS the real mare who tried to cast the spell. That she became immortal alright, but in doing so she was trapped forever in a stone prison. To this day, after nightfall on the night of the new moon, her cutie mark and horn will light up! Just as they did when she was alive!" The three watched the statue in awe and laughed suddenly. "Come on, let's head back! This legend is cool and all, but we need to get home before the sun sets!" Scootalue proceeded to scooter the other two fillies back to Poneyville.

Not long after their departure the sun set fully. A new moon. Princess Luna sat where the 3 had been not long ago. Watching the statue sadly. "Come little children... I'll take thee away... Into a land of enchantmeant..." she sang softly, her voice streaked with sorrow. "Come little children, the times come to play...here in my garden of Shadows..." she held the last note of her lullaby as she moved to go. Leaving the statue's horn and mark to glow softly into the moonless night...

"Sleep well, My darling Nightlight..."
