Hiro was bored. He'd been sitting at a desk all day, looking at the same clock all day. Boring as hell, to borrow a western phrase.
He decided to travel in time. Just a little, you understand, just to go somewhere. He closed his eyes, concentrated, and then...
--
He found himself in a large space, lying on the floor, with a splitting headache.
"W...what?!" he yelled.
"What?!" another voice sounded above him. He looked up, to see a man in a western wedding suit of some sort staring at him. The man was tall, with long brown hair and blue eyes, and the room, Hiro noticed, was big, in shades of green, with roundels of some sort decorating it.
"Who the hell are you?!" the man yelled at him. "How'd you get in here?!"
"M... my name, Hiro Nakamura," Hiro said, looking around this room. In the centre of it there was a large circular console. The man stood over it protectively.
"No, really," the man said, "you cannot have gotten in here, without some major technology..."
"No, I have no tehcnology," Hiro protested. "I teleport."
The man looked at him as if he was mad.
"What year are you from?" he asked after a moment.
"2006," Hiro said. "What year is it here?"
He was relieved to find someone who believed him.
"Right in here?" the man asked. "Well, we're sort of... between 1987 and 1988, at the moment," he smiled apologetically, adding, "I think..."
Hiro looked around.
"Is this... is this a time machine?"
"Yes," the man said. "I'm the Doctor and this is my TARDIS."
"What is a Tardis?" Hiro asked.
"Time machine," the Doctor replied. "Look, old chap, I'm afraid you'll have ot go - I can't have stray time travellers running around, you know..."
"But I want to learn about this..." Hiro protested.
"Well, bully for you," the Doctor said. "I'm not having uninvited guestds. You just toddle off where you came from."
"But..."
"No buts, Hiro Nakamura," the Doctor suddenly stared at him, and Hiro felt decidedly uncomfortable under that piercing blue gaze. "You have things to do."
"Y... yes," Hiro stammered. "You're right."
"Right," the Doctor smiled. "Goodbye."
--
Hiro snapped awake. Had he dozed off? What a strange dream. Something about a Doctor...?
--
The Doctor flicked a switch, and smiled to himself.
"These heroes," he muttered to himself. "They shoud learn to keep themselves to themselves."
