**This little idea came to me at like 3 in the morning when I was pulling an all nighter. It's just the prologue, but let me know what you think!**
After the war, everybody had changed. Things were different. Even though the light had won, and now shone over the Wizarding World, and even the Muggle World without Muggles knowing, there was a dark, gloom shadow on those who had participated in the war and those who had been affected by the war. There was no darker shadow, however, that cast it's menacing darkness than the one that clung onto Hermione Granger.
Hermione had been thrown into a state of depression once Voldemort had fallen. Ronald Weasley, the one boy she had always harbored feelings for, had left her for Lavender Brown. He had claimed, once the two broke up their sixth year, that the girl was crazy, that he would never even associate with her again, and yet he left her, Hermione, for that Lavender Brown. Harry Potter had also somewhat abandoned her. He had taken some of the money that his parents had left him, and bought himself a cottage in Scotland, but told no one the destination. Harry was tired of being in the limelight, always being followed by this wizard or that witch. He wanted to get away, so he did. He corresponded very little with Hermione through his new owl, and every time she had received a letter from him, she had broke down crying, just wanting her best friend back into her life. Even Ginny had barely talked to Hermione. She was in her last year at Hogwarts now, but whenever Hermione sent her a letter, she rarely ever received reply.
With the dark shadow cast over her, Hermione decided it was time to move on. She had a full scholarship to the Wizarding World's most renowned university due to her remarkable grades and the fact that she finished her seventh year in just two months, but she dropped it. Hermione knew it wasn't the smartest decision, but she wanted to start following her heart instead of what was expected of her by those around her. She had packed all of her things and moved to Muggle New York, in America. Ever since she was a child, Hermione had been fascinated with theatre, and dreamt about being an actress, however, once she found out she was a witch and was thrown into the world of fighting the Dark Lord, her dreams had become nothing but a hazy cloud in her mind. Now, with no shackles of saving the world, she wanted to delve back into theatre, and start following her dreams again.
Hermione Granger, the brains of the Golden Trio, was now living in Muggle Brooklyn, in a small yet spacious studio apartment. She lived her day to day life using little to no magic. She only used her magic when it was necessary, which really wasn't often. There was no threat of the Dark Lord anymore. No threat of being hounded down by wizard paparazzi. No threat of running into those who she didn't ever want to see again.
Hermione Granger was finally free, even if there was that looming shadow hovering over her.
Hermione went on her daily life as carefree as possible. She had made many new friends, booked small parts with her agent's help, been in small roles for local productions. Life was getting to a steady, happy place for Hermione.
Little did she know, that the shadow would soon engulf her in a new time of troubles, worries, woes, and enemies.
