~A/N~ This is sort of a little experiment before I start writing an actual chapter story about PoM. As you can see, for me, it is definitely Pripper all the way . I just recently watched the Penguins of Madagascar movie (last night, actually), and the ship just developed! I'm like, yes, new ship! Time to write fanfics! So I decided to do a little thing like this first, and I already have ideas for a long, Pripper chapter story, so you can be expecting that soon as well. Anyway, read, and I hope you enjoy!

Ever since Private was rescued as a baby by three certain penguins, Skipper knew there was something special about the adorable little bird.

Throughout the years of the four penguins staying together as a group, his brotherly affection for his small soldier grew and grew. Of course, though Private was constantly wishing to prove himself and gain more responsibility, Skipper couldn't contain the need to protect him and keep him safe. So, naturally, when he lost Private on their mission to stop the octopus Dave, he couldn't forgive himself for letting it happen.

The glass between the two penguins separated their flippers from making contact, but Skipper slid his to touch the glass, meeting the spot where it would have met with Private's. Calling out for help as the water drained from the tank and he was dragged helplessly down into the drain and into Dave's outstretched tentacles, Private's eyes gleamed with a pleading desperation.

Skipper held his breath and watched as his young soldier was taken away from him. "It's all my fault," he whispered. Love for his fellow penguin kept him going and gave him the determination to save his soldier.

However, the ache of this moment tenfold could not sum up to the pain he felt when he thought he had just watched his friend die. Slumping to the floor, his flippers halfheartedly clutching to the bars of the cage, his eyes had welled up with tears. His gaze had fixed on one point; that is, the spot where Private had been moments before- before Dave had launched his serum into his body and disintegrated him.

All my fault, all my fault, all my fault- this one thought raced through his mind despairingly and he clutched harder at the metal barrier, energy draining away and sinking into defeat. He's gone.

But he wasn't the only one who had ached for their familiar embrace.

Still very much alive, Private focused his energy on saving the other members of his team, his mind relentless on the thought of one penguin in particular.

Each separate moment led up to the love Private felt when he was reunited with Skipper, even when he looked the way he did, and especially when the recognition slowly filled up his eyes as they both took in each others presence with disbelief and undeniable joy. Warm feathers collided with each other in a tight-gripped hug and once more, Private felt at home.

Each moment he saw him he knew his true feelings. He tried to push them down, but each time they just welled up to the surface again.

Every moment spent with his friend, his commander, his….filled him with a strange and unique feeling he had never experienced before.

Every moment Private had with Skipper made him slowly realize piece by piece- a little more each time; he was in love.

Reviews would be lovely! Thanks~
