Authors Note: I just had a random idea, it's not very well-written. It'll be a one-shot, unless it becomes a hit and gets a zillion reviews. It's told from Cynthia (Alice's little sister)'s point of view when Alice is checked into the asylum. Cynthia is 6 in this story.

When I wake up this morning, Alice is nowhere to be found.

I briefly remember last night, Alice sneaking into my room and kissing my forehead. She had whispered, "Good-bye Cynthia. I'll-"But then she was pulled out. I think maybe it was a dream. Maybe Alice is just sleeping.

"Alice, Alice." I call, looking around. I leave my room and walk down the hall towards Alice's room.

"Alice, Alice." I open the door, Alice is not there.

Confused, I walk to Mother and Father's room. I open the door.

"Mother, Father, where is Alice?"

Mother looks at Father and they both do not look happy. I think maybe something bad has happened to Alice.

I think I maybe might cry.

Mother speaks before I can cry, "Cynthia, dear. Alice, well, she died."

I look at them, sad and confused.

"But why is she dead?"

Father takes a deep breath, "That does not matter Cynthia."

I can feel tears in my eyes. I wonder why Mother and Father are not crying.

"Why aren't you crying?"

Father looks mad now, "Cynthia…"

I leave their room, crying quietly. I walk down the hall and go in Alice's room. I shut the door and sit on her bed, sobbing.

Why did Alice have to die? This is not fair one bit. With tears rolling down my cheeks, I wonder why Father wouldn't tell me how she died. Was she sick?

I decide to uncover the Mystery of Why Alice Died.

Wiping my eyes, I walk over to Alice's desk. The first drawer has a drawing of me, a hair ribbon and a piece of faded blue cloth.

The second drawer is a little more interesting. There is a small dictionary and a list of words and their definitions.

At first I think maybe the words may have clues, but they are just words that are long or pretty to say.

I move on the bookcase.

My fingers pause at one without a title. I pull it out and find that it isn't as heavy as a book that size would be. And it seems to be… hollow? I open it up.

Inside are lots of sheets of loose-leaf paper. The top one has a single word written on it in big, bold letters.

The word is Jasper.
