The somber eyes of Raven looked back at Beast Boy with a saddened stare. It was something that he simply couldn't help but notice. They'd darkened from its already dark shade of violet, and seemed to fade into her mind. He couldn't help but try to understand why she was in such a way. She had always been sad, but not like this.

It had never been like this.

He looked up into those eyes, his own faded and bright. He tried to smile, but the effort seemed almost pointless. There was something here that he didn't understand, and he knew it was a problem.

"Raven?" He asked her softly, his hand moving slowly to grab her own. When she felt his feather touch, she pulled it away silently. Her hair moved in front of her face, blocking those saddened eyes from his view.

"Please. I want to know what's wrong." She shook her head silently, and he nodded. Very slowly he stood up from her bed where he sat, and walked to the door. He rested his hand on the frame and stood there silently, looking down at the ground.

"I guess you need to be alone. I'll just leave . . " She looked up and tried to catch his glance, but she was too late and he left, the door morbidly shutting behind him.

How am I going to do this? She thought. How can I make him understand without hurting him?

There was a connection . . .almost a triangle that didn't exist . . . that he would never understand unless she told him. But she couldn't. She just couldn't put him through the pain.

He had already survived a year without his Terra curled into his arms, to hold and nuzzle gently. She was no longer warm and soft, but a cold, hard stone lying on the top of a volcano. And he couldn't hold her anymore.

And he had already fallen in love again. With Raven.

And that was the problem.

She loved him in return, and they always were there for each other, but he could tell she was keeping something important from him. Something too important. Something that just . ..was too important for him to know.

Because if he did, she knew he would sink back into the heavy depressive her love had gotten him out of. And she would sink back into the further depression he had helped her climb out of .. the deep dark hole where she stood alone to watch the world pass her by.

But now what was she to do? She knew she trusted him and wanted him to know.

But she knew that she didn't.

For his sake, he knew that she didn't.
