This idea popped into my head a while ago. Even though I don't like MacPherson, I do agree with him on the fact that some artifacts could be used to help people. And I decided that he should have a chance to give people his side of the story. I hope you enjoy.
I don't own Warehouse 13, MacPherson, but I do own this one shot. All flames will give MacPherson strength. Which would be bad. Please R&R!
I have rarely thought twice about what I did. Yes, I betrayed the Warehouse and my closest friends, but, even now, I believe it was the right thing to do.
There are artifacts that could change the world for the better, and they, the regents, keep them locked up, closed off to those outside. World hunger could be ended, world peace established, but they ignore all that just because of "dangerous" side effects.
I know some are unsafe, but that doesn't mean they all are. Several of them were catalogued ages ago. If we tested them, did a little extra research, we would be able to know for certain if they were harmful or not.
However, the regents, along with Mrs. Frederic, would rather have us find new artifacts instead of looking at the ones we have. Granted, the research would take a very long time, but new techniques could allow us to test only the ones with a possibility of success.
I abided by these rules for years until one day the final straw occurred. My wife was trapped in a burning building and Arthur and his stupid rules got in the way of rescuing her. I admit, if I could have avoided the deaths of the firemen I would, but the only artifact at my disposal was the Phoenix. It was my wife or nameless men, and my choice was clear. I took the Phoenix from Arthur and saved her.
If a loved one of yours was in danger, wouldn't you do the same? Wouldn't you choose the woman, or man, you loved over people you never knew and never would know? Also, wouldn't you want to help others if you had the ability to do so?
I know no words could ever convince you of my view, especially when you believe so wholeheartedly in Arthur and hisstory, but I had to try. Carol knows this tale, and I know no-one outside the Warehouse could begin to grasp the idea of artifacts, let alone the tangled mess of the history between Arthur and myself.
I thank you for listening, but I doubt you will even care. To you, the loyal agent, I am just another enemy to capture, to detain, in your hunt to gather and store artifacts.
Though, if you ever feel that artifacts have a place in this world outside the Warehouse, that they could be used to help the planet, let me know. Two is always better than one. I could always use a partner.
