Rory

My darling daughter Rory! We share our names as we share our dreams. I remember when I asked you what you wanted to be when you grew up and you said, "I wanna be a good princess." I told you I wanted to be the same thing and it's true. I told you that we would live in a castle and banish all evil from the world. Even the Devil Hands stove. If I could be queen and you my beautiful princess, we wouldn't need anyone else. Except for Luke who would be our official chef.

The first time we went to church was a day to remember. The pastor was saying, "We are all a part of God's house. What part will you be?" Then you stood up on the pew, lifted a hand and said, "I'll be the doorknob!"

You are my best friend and I was always jealous of you because it always seemed like you would be the perfect one and somehow I felt that you had it better than me. I realize I was wrong. I was so wrong. You should be jealous of me because you will never have a daughter as great as mine and I savor that thought and realize how amazing this life has turned out, but I also realize that there is still more to come.

I remember when I told you that on your wedding day I would dress as one of the seven dwarves and you would be Snow White. You liked that idea. I told you that whoever marries you will be the luckiest man in the world to have found such an intelligent, loving, kind daughter that I will always protect and love. I told you that you were my queen and I was the jest and I would make sure that you would get the perfect man who would treat you well and love his mother-in-law.

The day you were born was the most beautiful and meaningful day of my life. Before, your grandma and grandpa were so angered at me for having a child at sixteen but when they saw your face, they fell in love with you. Watching my mother hold you, kiss you and cry was more beautiful than anyone could ever imagine. You brought light to my world and happiness to my heart and I know this seems really corny but it's the truth. You scare me, Rory. From that day on I never let you out of my site. You were my treasure.

I would be nothing without my darling Rory. My best friend that has been so good to me.

Good luck with your new marriage.

Best wishes,

Lorelai Gilmore.
