What if Korra hadn't gotten her bending back by Aang? What if she was really depressed? One shot.
One Thought
"Korra!" she heard Mako yell after her.
She shut her eyes. Forget about him, forget about everyone. she kept mentally repeating to herself.
"Faster Naga!" Korra commanded and Naga ran faster, sensing her mistress's distress. Korra clung on to Naga and buried her face in the soft, white fur. They finally stopped at a cliff. Naga laid down on the snow while her master sat on the cliff, staring emptily at the cold waters beneath her.
Korra looked back at her polar bear dog, who seemed thirsty. "Go find some water, Naga. I'll be okay here."
Her companion blinked at her, then ran away in search of a river.
She started to sob uncontrollably. She was a failure, not even a true Avatar. What kind of Avatar could only airbend? It was useless. Korra would be useless to people. She had lost her firebending, waterbending, and earthbending. What was the point of being the Avatar if she couldn't bend all the elements?
If there was a new Avatar, that would solve the problem, wouldn't it?
Korra wiped away her tears, shocked that she had even thought about it. Who knew when she'd die anyway? Could be decades.
She stared again at the ocean. The water…it reminded her of waterbending. She remembered the hard and tricky forms Katara had taught her, but she had mastered it easily. Korra was always so arrogant, believing she didn't need the spiritual side of bending or airbending.
Ironically, now that she had airbending, she would trade it for the other elements she had lost to Amon.
Korra took a deep breath to soothe herself, but she started to sob again. She felt so pathetic and vulnerable. Finally, she stood up, her knees buckling because of the long time she had been sitting down.
The ocean pounded against the ice, wave after wave.
She took a step forward, then another step. Korra was almost at the end of the cliff.
This'll take the pain away. All my pain. she thought.
Korra jumped into the ocean.
The water was icy and nipped her skin. She started to struggle at first, but then relaxed and let the ocean do what it would. The water filled her lungs and she started to cough. Her vision became black and she sank to the bottom of the ocean.
And so Avatar Korra died.
