Just a few of the great things that make Luffy…a most interesting person.

Disclaimer: Ah, almost forgot, I don't own One Piece characters.

What Dreams Are Made Of

Unsolved, spontaneous, unflappable, vigorous, ecstatic…elastic. Monkey D. Luffy was the definition of these words and many more.

It was hard to conceive just how he worked, always bouncing around his pirate ship with a continuous grin on his face, but he was deadly and terrifying in battle. So long as nothing out of his control happened to his friends, his hat, or his food supply, Luffy had an easy go-lucky-persona working just fine with a grin plastered to his face. That was why he was unsolved…no one, not even his crew, really knew him.

He acted on impulse. Destroyed buildings, ripped through warlords, anything that dared stand between him and his nakama. Luffy would go through hell (and back) if it meant he and his friends could live another day on the open ocean, with the wind on their backs, the salt on their lips…their dreams in their hearts. Luffy would carry every single individual member of his crew over his or her own problems and dilemmas that you would generally think a pirate (let alone the captain) would care about.

To hell with that theory. Luffy cared. This, in turn, made his spontaneous.

Nothing could stop his never-ending determination, for Luffy was made of only one other thing, besides rubber. True grit determination. You could not stand in his way; and if you had, the nerve to try…you could not live to tell about, most likely. The captain of the small Straw Hat Fleet took just as good of care as his dream as he did his friends, and of course, his hat. It was impossible to keep him down, should anything important to him be in peril. Something, like a promise to a friend, a treasure of his or his crews'…something, that maybe you consider incompetent of unworthy of your attention was what monkey D. Luffy was strived and lived for. He was unflappable in spirit as he was in physical condition with his rubber appendages.

Should you belong to his crew, or maybe, for instance and you were very perceptive, and met his eyes, you would see a wild, uncontrollable beauty in him, in the captain of the Straw Hat Fleet…because that all there really was to him. A Straw Hat and a smile. Of course, he was a little impulsive, you know. He dragged his crewmates through some pretty wild adventures, they all went to weird places, and met even weirder people. Some we fought, some we made allies, some became our crewmates. It seemed that some of the weirdest became the crewmembers of the Straw Hats. Luffy didn't take no for an answer, and Luffy didn't usually have a plan 'B', there was only plan 'A.' made him vigorous, really.

And maybe that helped him in another personality, another matter of him. The kid, this captain, had a grin plastered on his face. Like, it was sewn on, or something. Someone like you might think that. But you never saw him fight, never fought him. Ah, when I mentioned you didn't live to tell about sparring with him…that was kinda lie in a way. Heh. Stupid ecstatic captain.

However…please, out of all of these seemingly imaginable personalities swimming inside Luffy…please, please don't think for an instant that he was…immortal.

Because that stupid idiot wasn't.

Monkey D. Luffy

A hat on his head,

A dream in his heart,

His friends by his side.

This, and more, is what our captain was made of.

And Monkey D. Luffy was what dreams are made of.

And as First Mate to the King of Pirates, it's my job to make sure that none of you forget what he was, and what he still is to lot of people. Got it?
