The Resurrection
I walked out of my house, thinking. I walked to the cliff, where I usually sat. I didn't know why Zelda had sent me back in time. I mean, I know why, but why didn't she keep me in her time? We could have been together. I looked out over the sea, and looked at the waves crashing on the shores.
I heard a soft pop, and felt a sharp pain in my chest. I blinked, and I was in front of Hyrule castle. I didn't know what I was doing here, but something was wrong. There was a dark red liquid gathering by my feet. As I toppled over, I dumbly realized that it was my blood that I was seeing. I heard cries as people saw me fall. Then, mercifully, I blacked out.
I ran to the castle's hospital. I thought about what I had heard. Link had been shot with an arrow. But how he turned up on the castle steps, I didn't know.
I stopped in front of the hospital doors.
"Please let me in," I said to the nurse.
"The doctor is busy with Link," she replied.
"But it's an emergency!" I cried out.
"Fine," she told me. "Go on in."
"Thank you," I returned. I thought about why I sent Link back to the past. Just so that this would not happen. But it still did.
I ran to the bedside. "What does it look like?" I asked.
"It doesn't look good," the doctor said. "We don't think he'll make it."
"Please! Try!" I yelled.
"We've tried everything we could," the doctor explained. "We don't know what to do." With that, he left the room.
I laid my head on Link's chest. Telling myself to calm down. Then, I walked out of the room, and fell to my knees in the hallway. There, I cried. Tears streamed from my face, as I thought about what he and I could have been.
I prayed to the goddesses. Please let him live. Even if it is for one more day. I don't care how long he will be able to stay, as long as I have him for one more minute. I love him. You know I do. Why can't Heaven wait one more day?
Zelda, I heard. It was Din. We're sorry, we did not want you to worry. He is going to be okay.
What do you mean? I asked.
Watch, they said.
I turned around, to look through the window, and saw a doctor go into Link's room.
"We need help!" he cried out.
"NO!" I screamed.
Nurses and doctors ran in, and surrounded Link. I ran to the door, and stopped in place. He was bleeding again. It was so much blood! There was no way that he would live.
I screamed, and yelled, but he kept on bleeding. Slowly, the doctors and nurses went away, leaving me alone with him. I went up to his body, and touched his face. He looked as if he could be sleeping, but I knew that it wasn't the truth. He was dead.
How COULD YOU! I screamed to the goddesses. There was no reply.
I turned around, and started to leave the room, when I heard a whisper. Zelda. It wasn't the goddesses. It was a voice I knew all too well.
"Link?" I called. I turned around, and saw Link's body moving.
"LINK!" I yelled. He groaned, and I cried out in happiness. He was alive!
I ran to his side, and knelt down.
"Zelda," he said. "I love you."
"I love you too," I replied.
With that, we kissed.
We stood next to each other, me in my wedding dress, and Link in his tunic. This was the happiest day of my life. I received the ring that he gave me, and we kissed. And I knew that everything was going to be okay.
I didn't need to be able to see the future to know what we were going to do. We were going to have kids, grow old together, and love each other until the day we died. And beyond then.
It's what the legend says.
