An Awkward Experience
The sky was a bruised purplish-blue as Percy scouted along the shore. It was the night before the 4th of July, and the black-haired son of Poseidon was scanning the coast for the perfect fireworks-viewing spot. It had to be secluded, but with a good view of the ocean sky; tranquil, but not soul-numbingly boring.
He finally found the best area ever in existence when he spotted a lone fisherman standing knee-deep in the salty tide. Peering hesitantly, he noticed that the man had a coconut-themed shirt and walked nearer.
"Dad?" The teen said in surprise, as the fisherman turned and grinned at him. "Why are you here? I mean, not that I don't want you here or anything, I just-"
The sea god raised a hand to silence his babbling son as the boy turned a brilliant shade of vermillion.
"I am here to draw awareness to a…certain….event….that has been…worrying many of the Olympians." It was Poseidon's turn to look embarrassed, as he shuffled his feet awkwardly. Percy wondered what could possibly be troubling the gods, they were superpowerful beings, after all.
When he found out, he could only stare in horror.
Chiron wasn't prepared for the sight of Poseidon walking along the porch towards him with an abashed look on his face, leading a terror-struck Percy.
"Lord Poseidon," the centaur exclaimed, bowing at once, "what brings you to camp?"
The sea god grimaced and sat Percy on one of the empty chairs. "So…many…tadpoles…" The teenager gasped out before scrambling to his feet. Without acknowledgeing Chiron or his father, Percy raced away from the Big House, towards his cabin.
"He's been through a lot in these past few minutes," Poseidon stated, attempting to dislodge the awkward silence. The centaur nodded, his face neutral, and wondered if this occasion had anything to do with Nico's recent development. The boy had gotten back from the Underworld a few weeks ago and had been traversing the camp in an aimless fashion, muttering under his breath and avoiding anyone of the female gender.
Poseidon cleared his throat once more and shifted his feet. "I'll be off, then." Chiron nodded respectfully and averted his eyes. A flash of teal later, the god of the sea was gone, leaving only a lingering scent of seaweed. The trainer sighed before clip-clopping inside.
And for the next few days, Annabeth was puzzled by her boyfriend's reaction when she was around. Though, she had to admit, it was kind of nice to know that just her precense had Percy flushing so much.
AN: So, yeah. Due to so many people liking 'An Uncomfortable Moment', I've decided to turn it into a series. Review and vote for Annabeth, Piper, or Jason to be mortified next!
