"Ah!" Florence shivered as she was pelted by the frozen ball. "No fair!" She yelled, grabbing some of the snow and flinging it at the curly haired ginger.
Sniffer shielded himself with the sign for Scotland Yard. "Too slow!"
"'Ey! Cut that out you two!" Dustin yelled, shoveling more snow away from the sidewalk. "Can't ya see some of us are tryin' tah get t'snow out of 'ere?" He grunted and flung the pile to the side.
The scientist and young investigator looked at each other and smirked.
Dustin felt his hands freeze for a moment, so he took a second to breathe warmth into them.
"Ready?"
"Go!"
A pair of snow balls hit his side, freezing the skin under his bundle of clothes where they landed. Another four hit his feet and legs. His teeth chattered and he growled.
They were in for it.
Dustin gripped his snow shovel tight and got an idea. Three snowballs hit the white ground around him, as he dug into it without mercy. "You two want tah play? I'll play!" He lifted the heavy mound of snow, as much as he could on the square metal plate and launched it as best he could across the path.
His laughter was alone as the his friends tried to get warm and process what just happened to them.
"'Ow do ya like that, eh?"
They didn't. And they made sure he knew it.
In the end, the trio was shivering in Florence's office, trying to thaw out of their deep freeze they had inevitably put themselves in. Hot cocoa and warm blankets and heaters, all to melt away the cold seeping into their skin.
But hey, at least the sidewalk was clear.
