Erik's thoughts after the death of the Comte de Chagny.

Disclaimer: I do not own Erik, Phillipe de Chagny, or the text of the Dies Irae but I don't think anyone does, so I doubt I need a disclaimer.

Dies Irae

O Day of Wrath

On which day, all

Shall be judged.

O Lord, on that day,

Have mercy on me

For the death of this man

-----

How often have I myself

Wished for death?

My life worth naught

In this pit of hell.

I am but a phantom

An angel, a ghost, nothing more

-----

He is not the first.

Nay, I have killed many

Beheld many lifeless faces.

But he will be the last.

I see the horror on her face

And I will never kill again.

-----

And so, Chagny, "Adieu ."

I will see you on that Day.

On the Day of Wrath

We will stand side by side

Before God to be judged.

Oh, may God have mercy on me.

Dies irae, dies illa,
Solvet sæclum in favilla:
Teste David cum Sibylla

A/N: I just want to inform those of you who don't already know, that "Adieu" literally means "before God," thus its use in the last stanza.
