It's the Most Wonderful Time
Summary: Caim recalls a certain day where he learns a valuable lesson in dealing with women and hopes it doesn't apply to his pact-partner.
A/N: Don't own Drakengard. And this was inspired after a rather bad "time". Yeah... chibi scared Caim plushie if you review. And I apologize to the guys and for any OOCness.
Caim watched his sister and brother-in-law with half lidded eyes. Inuart was singing another one of his songs and she was quietly humming along. Caim sighed softly from contentment. The night was cool, the weather fair, they were making good time on their journey to the elf village, his sister was happy, and the annoying dragon he had entered a pact with was busy hunting. The mute allowed his mind to wander as Inuart began a new song.
(Flashback)
Caim blinked.
Inuart trembled.
Caim crossed his arms.
Inuart continued trembling.
Caim sighed. "Inuart?"
Inuart squeaked.
"Why are you under the table?"
"Furiae has gone mad!" Inuart yelped, standing up. Caim raised an eyebrow.
"What are you talking about? She seemed fine this morning." he snorted, turning to enter the room his sister favored.
"I wouldn't, if I were you, Caim." Inuart warned, backing away. Caim rolled his eyes and opened the door, only to lean away as a very upset Furiae scowled evilly at him.
"Don't you know how to knock?!" she barked out in a very un-Furiae way. Caim took a step back, somewhat wary of the homicidal glint in her eyes.
"Sorry." he apologized, ignoring Inuart's desperate gestures to stop. "Inuart said that you were acting odd, so I wanted to check on you."
"Oh, so he was talking about me behind my back, was he?" the goddess growled. Caim gave her an odd look. "What is that look for?!"
For once in his life, Caim felt unnerved by and maybe a bit frightened of his sister. "Inuart is concerned for you, Furiae. Are you...alright?"
The goddess snarled as she flounced past her confused brother and frightened fiancé. "I'm peachy!!"
Both men winced as the goddess slammed the door, causing the windows to rattle. Caim stared at Inuart, lost for words. Inuart shrugged his shoulders.
"Shall we go warn the men?"he asked. Caim nodded and the two promptly scurried off.
(End Flashback)
Caim shook his head, wondering what had brought that memory up. Two weeks later, Furiae was back to her kind and gentle self. After an extremely awkward conversation, both Caim and Inuart knew why the goddess had such a nasty mood swing and when to avoid her. He was shaken from his thoughts when the red dragon descended next to him. Suddenly, Caim had another, rather terrifying, thought.
"Dragon?" he asked hesitantly via their mental link. She glanced carelessly at him.
"What?" she asked.
"Your kind...well, you dragons lay eggs, right?"
The red dragon blinked and stared at him. She slowly blinked again. "Yes... why do you care?"
"Never you mind." Caim dismissed the confused dragon while sighing from relief. He slumped down to the ground and contentedly shut his eyes, now listening to Inuart recite a humorous poem.
Thank the gods up above the dragon won't get PMS.
