The annoyance of the ringing phone at 5:00 AM on Saturday morning was almost too much for Gabriella. Of course, she answered anyway.
"Hello?"
"Hey!" It was troy, sounding as excited and as awake as ever.
"Hi, Troy."
"Listen, I know I woke you up, but we're going on a trip!"
"Hmm…Umm…Wait, huh?"
Troy sighed. "Okay, get dressed… I've got a real treat planned for you. I'll be there in twenty minutes to pick you up." And with that, he hung up the phone.
Gabriella rolled back in her bed and stared at the ceiling. She was not in the mood to go anywhere. She wasn't in a good mood either. She considered calling Troy back and saying she couldn't go, but he knew that she owed this to him.
She got dressed, and got her purse with Advil, a bottle of water and her cell phone.
Troy was there right on time. She went to get in the car, but he was getting out.
"Wait, wait! Don't get in yet."
"And why is that, Troy Bolton?"
"Well, this is a mystery trip. You can't see where you're going." He said, holding up a bandana.
Gabriella sighed and took an Advil. "Alrighty."
Troy laughed and tied the bandana around her eyes. As she felt him starting to lead her to the car, he unexpectedly kissed her.
"Troy,…"
"I know, I know, we're going." He said with a grin that even Gabriella could see.
The car ride was long. Very, very long.
"Hmm…"
"Troy?"
"Yeah?"
"Are we lost?"
"Lost? No!"
"Okay…"
….
"Yeah, we're lost."
"Great."
"Don't worry, we'll be fine…Here, I'll play your favorite song.
Gabriella could hear a CD being popped into the CD player. Then, the car was filled of the song, Sweet Escape, by Gwen Stefani. After one more hour, they were finally. Troy got omething out of the trunk, and he led her about 100 feet away from the car. Finally he said, "Okay, you can look."
Gabriella opened her eyes and saw instantly that she was in a park. But not a normal park. They were at a quiet spot with a brook and a mini water fall, with a bridge leading across it. There were numerous flowers and butterflies. It was, by far, the most beautiful thing Gabriella had ever seen. Troy was the only one in sight. And, of course, he was holding a picnic basket.
"Well, Gaby, I thought you'd been stressed lately. You've had so much work, and I know Taylor is being mean to you for some reason, so I tought you needed a sweet escape." He looked around. "Could this be your seweet escape?"
Gabriella smiled at him. "No." she said. Troy looked hurt, and extremely sad. She walked over to him, and cuddled in his arms. "This is my sweet escape. Here, in your arms, with you."
Troy smiled and they went off to have their picnic. He was right, thought Gaby, she had needed to have a sweet escape from the crap in her life. But 'sweet escape' wasn't a place, it was Troy. It was Troy, because when she was with him, all that mattered was their love, nothing else was important.
PLEASE R&R!!!!! THANKS!!!!
