A/N: Hey! I felt like writing this after I finished HP7…
Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter, so don't sue me.
SPOILER FOR HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS.
A seemingly shrunken boy stared out at the lake, his black eyes filled with an unreadable expression. It was as if time had stopped for him. The bright beam of the moon reflected onto the dark lake, giving away the boy's dark hair.
He was thinking about a certain girl he'd grown up with, a girl he'd spent many nights dreaming about. The only girl that could make him truly smile. She worked magic on him, and could make him throw back his head and laugh. She was the girl who he'd talk to about his worries, the girl who'd held his hand when he was scared. But today, he'd lost her.
He'd lost the only girl he had ever felt such passion for. It was most likely that she'd never felt the same way, but now they couldn't even be friends.
He'd never meant to call her such a terrible name. It had just slipped out as he saw him with her, laughing at him. He was sick of her always finding him like this. The center of all the pointing and sniggering- needing to be saved. He was tired of being ridiculed by him then having to see him flirt with the girl of his dreams. She'd always assured him that she hated the other boy, not realising how he, himself, felt about her. But recently, he'd seen the slight curve at the end of her mouth when he talked to her. He hated it. He hated him. He hated himself.
Today was the last straw. She had to rescue him again, from the humiliation. He'd even seen a slight smile on her face as he had made some crack about him. Feeling betrayed and miserable, it had just slipped out. For a slight second, he wanted to hurt her as much as she'd hurt him. It worked.
Now she wouldn't even look at him. When she had to, there was nothing but disgust in her eyes. He tried apologizing. Begging her to forgive him. But she'd made her choice.
He was beyond broken. He'd never actually meant to give her pain. He'd snapped when he saw the pity in her eyes, as he dangled upside down. He didn't want pity from her. For once, he wanted to save her.
The boy closed his eyes. If someone had looked closely at him, they'd have seen that there was a small tear making its way down his pale face.
The boy sat there- minutes and hours passing by him. But when he finally opened his eyes- he, too, had made his decision.
If she didn't want him with her, he wouldn't be. She could hate him but he could never hate her. He… loved her. She didn't want to look at him, but he'd always be staring at her, unnoticed.
He'd always be there to protect her. For once, to save her.
He knew she didn't want him close and he wouldn't be. Just never too far behind.
I hope you enjoyed it, though I know it wasn't that good. I tried avoiding using names... I hope you noticed that him meant James Potter.
I hated Snape until I read HP7. Now, I just feel really sad for him... I'll always support Lily and James, but it's fun to know that someone always loved Lily.
