It was a soft arc across the sky and down that had first caught his eye.
He had never met Toris until then when he aligned himself up with the other eagle and found a certain contentment by his side.
Alfred loved the freeing contentment of such a relationship with another though it had never been enough to change how birds lived or to start something new.
It was something though, and so Alfred came back time and time again to just spend time with the other and learn mostly by observation.
He wished beyond any normal wishes to be able to speak with the other in ways more than a small coded noise to indicate a small number of things such as attraction.
Alfred longed to close that distance that would always be too far, just out of reach.
He wanted to swoop in and steal a kiss from the other though he knew that they could not go off of these feelings; they could not exist with these feelings as a makeshift couple.
The larger eagle stared near the lighter colored one though he knew that he was beat when an eagle slightly smaller than Toris dropped down by him.
It was clear, her intent was, she was eyeing Toris as a potential mate, and so Alfred backed up.
She was female, and somehow it seemed fitting that Felicija, the noisiest in their flock with way too many excited squabbles would be together with Toris, a quieter one that did things subtly.
Alfred put up his best contented, leader expression as he moved forward to claim the front of the flock to guide them safely like always; he never needed the love that his flock mates sought after as he had to spend his time in control of the situations.
He never said a word in explanation when the flowers shown up wherever they nested right by his side, and he never once asked why the small, newest members in their flock, wandered quite close to Alfred, excitably as they flown.
The Alpha eagle left no explanation for these things though he knew why they happened.
There was a little contentment for an unusual alpha after all.
