KRRR: Hey everyone! I'm back from camp!
It had always amazed Youko how very much like Yuriko his daughter, Kari, was. While she had his silver hair and curiosity, she had her mother's eyes and gentle nature. Kari was eight hundred years old, with the appearance of a six year old human child. Her violet eyes, filled with innocence but containing dark circles underneath them, were searching for Kuronue as her silver curls danced in the wind.
Has it really been a year?, the fox thought as he watched Kuronue dive down and scoop Kari up, flying her high into the sky.
The young kit still awoke in the middle of the night, her screams, filled with pain and despair, filling the den and waking the men up. After the first threat on his daughter's life, Youko's men just chose to ignore the high pitched wails, knowing that their boss would handle it. The only one who still complained was Yomi, but he was too good at what he did to let him go. Right as Youko raised his head up, his golden eyes searching for Kuronue to tell him to come down, the bat landed in front of him, Kari in his arms.
"Daddy! The bad men are back!" she wailed, her violet eyes starring into her father's golden orbs.
"Are you sure, little rose?" he asked. She nodded her head swiftly.
"Go alert the men, Kari, and then stay in the den. Understand?"
"Yes, papa." she said, before running off.
Running around, she knocked on the all the doors, alerting the men of the impending fight. The last one she came upon belonged to Yomi. The six-eared demon always frightened Kari, but her father's life was at stake. Swiftly, she opened the ostentatious door and said in a regal voice,
"Yomi. Father calls for you. There's a fight outside and your services are required."
"Not interested." he said, sighing lightly with boredom.
"I don't care if you're not interested. This den is your home as well. If you don't defend it, I'll see to it that you have no home."
Yomi laughed, amused by the words of the kit, who glared at him, her violet eyes flashing dangerously. Suddenly, Yomi was face to face with said tiny kistune, her rose whip around his neck and his body doubled over in order to accommodate to her height.
"Listen, you bastard. My father is out there fighting and needs all of the men out there. If you don't fight for him, then I promise you, you'll never fight again. Am I understood, Yomi?" she whispered darkly, leaving no room in her voice for argument. Youko would be proud. Yomi nodded his head, frantically trying to escape. "Excellent. Now go!" she barked, before turning and going into her room.
Later, after the battle had been won and dinner served by one of Kuronue's wenches, Yomi related the story to Youko. The golden eyed kistune looked at his giggling daughter in surprise before laughing and smiling proudly at her.
"I guess she's more like I am after all."
Happy Father's Day, Youko!
